Comments about Sigma Sigma 28-70mm f/2.8 EX DG AutoFocus Wide Angle Zoom Lens for Nikon AF-D Cameras:
The lens is great for the Price, I am using it on my D90. I would imagine if you have a tendency to drop cameras your lens might not perform up to your expectations. On the D90, there is no searching, vigenetting, artifacts, all pictures I have taken with this lens have come out just as good as with my 135 2.8.

Comments about Sigma Sigma 28-70mm f/2.8 EX DG AutoFocus Wide Angle Zoom Lens for Nikon AF-D Cameras:
I DO NOT LIKE my 28-70 lens. It's alright if you have no other choice. My camera fell, not even ON the lens but the lens got messed up...not the camera who took the brunt of the tiny fall...the lens. I'm not happy with the sharpness. I'm not happy with it's focusing. Have I taken some decent photos with it...yes, but only because it's the only wider angle lens I have now. I can NOT wait to buy a new lens. I got saddled with this [*] holster when I bought my D70. It's a janky [*]...I would NEVER buy another Sigma Lens after this. I have a zoom as well from Sigma, (came with the camera) and it's quality is poor too. Thanks Sigma for making [*] lenses...

Comments about Sigma Sigma 28-70mm f/2.8 EX DG AutoFocus Wide Angle Zoom Lens for Nikon AF-D Cameras:
I enjoyed using this lens form the start. I would not necessarily use it for closeup or critical nature work. I like it primarily for birthdays, urban people shooting, etc. My Nikon N-80 does have a tendency to search quite a bit with this lens, that I don't find in other (including other Sigma) lenses.
