Pros:
Clear Glass, Easily Mounted, Lightweight, Strong Construction, Very good value for price
Cons:
Louder focus than Pentax, Slower focus than Pentax
Best Uses:
Close up work with tripod

Yes, I would recommend this to a friend
For $[...], the Sigma f/2,8 DG EX macro lens is an excellent value. It works well as a macro lens but the focus is slower than the Pentax version and it better to take macros with the camera mounted on a tripod with cable release. It does work hand held however and also serves as an excellent low light lens indoors and outside.
