Comments about Sigma Sigma 50-500mm f/4-6.3 APO DG OS HSM Telephoto Zoom Lens for Canon EOS Cameras.:
I've been researching long focal lenses for quite some time. I generally buy Canon accessories but just couldn't cough up the money for a Canon product. When I found the Sigma I didn't like the funky finish that showed every little mar or scratch so I steered clear. Finally after several months of debate, I bought the Sigma 50-500mm from Adorama. The lens was on sale and a Tiffen filter and cleaning kit came with it. Wow, nice! I absolutly love this lens. Photography has gone to another level with this lens. It's more of a daytime lens when shooting sports at night unless you have good light, but still shots at night with a tripod look awesome. I love old barns and this lens fills the frame from a safe distance without upsetting a [...] farmer. I use this lens for birds, wildlife, landscape and sports. Love it!

Comments about Sigma Sigma 50-500mm f/4-6.3 APO DG OS HSM Telephoto Zoom Lens for Canon EOS Cameras.:
If you put this on a 50D canon, it will convert to 800 mm(1.6 x 500). For the money, this glass does it all, but low lighting. If you like nature and day sports, this lens is for you. Don't try to photograph a high school football game at night it won't work, but a Braves Game is perfect because of the lighting they use. This lens will give you the chance to reach out for the average photographer on a budget. This lens is really worth 2 to 3 times it's price. This lenses is the only reason I got to photograph the moon's craters.
Use a tripod and set your shutter at 1,000.

Comments about Sigma Sigma 50-500mm f/4-6.3 APO DG OS HSM Telephoto Zoom Lens for Canon EOS Cameras.:
I had the Sigma150-500 IS and really liked it, but this one produces better quality shots. I use the lens primarily for hiking around photographing birds, but the extra 100mm on the wide end makes it nice for photographing anything else I may see that catches my eye without having to carry around and extra wide angle lens. Very sharp, excellent color. It's a little slow at the long end (6.3), so you need decent light, but it doesn't weigh 10 pounds and didn't cost me $6000.
Certainly not a feather weight, but I can carry it for hours with a Cotton Carrier vest.
Very nice lens, I really like it.
