I rent or borrow before I buy , here's how it went.1st lens(Rental)= not bad , OS was very impressive .2nd lens = Absolute Garbage , IQ non-existent at any focal length .3rd lens = not bad ,IQ slightly better than the rental , OS not as fast or as positive . (about the same as my 80-400 Nikon).This is not the 1st time a heavy Sigma telephoto has failed on me , new , right out of the box . Check out the samples below , taken as soon as I got number 3 out of the packing . Both are hand-held .Point ; This is not a bad lens for the price . If it's not right , send it back ! [...]

Lens used for nature/wildlife photography.
Good zoom range, easy to use, Optical Stabilizer seem to work well on setting #2.
Optical stabilizer does use up the camera battery much faster, so a spare battery is a must.

I bought this lens to replace my 170>500 sigma lens to get the is feature , the last time that I used the lens without stabilation , my photo's of eagles came out blurry(500 without OS just don't work.
with os and the fast focus,my results are much better even when hand held
