I figured I should snag a super-wide to complement my Sigma 17-70 and Canon 70-200 f/4 L IS before our latest vacation (over to Europe). I thought I could find a use for it there, and it ended up on my Rebel XT most of the time. This lens rocks in most any situation you want where you need a wide view. Awesome in the Alps and in London and Paris. f/4-5.6 isn't fast, but with the short focal range, you can handhold this in darker areas and still get sharp shots.

Images are sharp with stunning contrast and detail, focuses super-fast and silent. Controls are smooth and feel way better than even my 70-200 L(yes, that good). This lens at this price is an incredible bargain. I've found this lens a joy for automotive and fun candids as well. Just get it!

Are you kidding me? For [$] this is an incredible lens! Locally, this lens sells for[$](including tax) so I was more than happy to pick this up online. Adorama ROCKS and so does this lens! I never leave home without it. You won't find a better wide angle for this price. Its excellent for indoor and landscape photography. The shots I get using this lens on my 40D are amazing.

I bought a Canon 30D to use as a back up when My Canon 1DS developed a shutter problem. I quickly found my Canon 20-35 zoom was not wide enough because of the 30D's APC sized sensor.

I shoot a lot of interior shots for home builders, so a wide angle is a must.

This lens on the 30D is wider than the 20 on my 1Ds!

It works great and the only complaint I have about it is that you can't use the built in flash on the 30D with it. However, it works fine with my 550EX and my 580EX.

This seems to be a very good lens so far. I think it's quite sharp and the build quality is excellent. You tend to use this type of lens at smaller apertures (for depth of field) so I haven't tested it much wide open. It focuses nice and close which is very important for a super wide. Distortion is surprisingly low.

BTW, you can manually pre-focus this lens even when set to auto focus.

I like having the super wide for the perspective. I've taken some nice shots with it already. The idea is to get close. If you can't touch your main subjuct you're probably too far away.

I'm glad I bought this lens. I don't think the Canon would be any better for $200 more.

Very good lens for its class. Good wide angle coverage- equivalent to 16-32mm with my 20D- with little distortion thru most of its range. Some barrel distortion at 10 to 12 mm, especially at wider aperatures, but less than I expected. Very low distortion above 12mm. Canon 10-22mm shows more pronounced distortion at nearly twice the price. Great lens for wide landscape vistas and the distortion at 10mm gives an interesting effect with cloud formations!
