I have used this lens for a year and a half, 3-4 days a week. It is used for 75% of my sports photo work, and is reasonably sharp for 8x10 enlargements. The focal range is quite versatile, allowing me to use just one camera most of the time. Construction is quite good (especially for the price), only now exibiting a little slop when I turn the zoom ring. This is outstanding considering it has been used for at least 25,000 shots. It balances nicely on my D70 and D200.
For me this lens has been the best photo equipment value EVER in many years of shooting. IF you don't really need 2.8 speed (be honest with yourself or just use flash like me!), get this great little workhorse for yourself.
