Comments about Sigma Sigma 30mm f/1.4 EX DC HSM AutoFocus Standard Lens for Nikon Digital SLR Cameras.:

This is a great focal length for general photography on an APS-C sensor. Autofocus was fast and generally accurate for a 1.4. Very sharp, even wide open. Build is up to usual EX series snuff. Used this for a band gig in a proverbial dungeon of a venue and got accurate focus wide open. Dark enough I had to shoot at 3200 & 1/30 for ambient, and it worked great.

Comments about Sigma Sigma 30mm f/1.4 EX DC HSM AutoFocus Standard Lens for Nikon Digital SLR Cameras.:

I usually use Nikon 50.4 with D300 because I don't like quality of any zoom lens actually. I proudly recommend this lens who are looking for standard range lens which is not zoom.
Do you want picture that Sharp and Good Quality?
Don't waste your time. It has of course cons like slow focusing even it has HSM. But, you can trust me. I really love it.
Remember! All of great picture that were taken by famous photographer were almost in standard angle.

Comments about Sigma Sigma 30mm f/1.4 EX DC HSM AutoFocus Standard Lens for Nikon Digital SLR Cameras.:

You're probably getting this lens because you don't have the money to get the Nikon version...guilty as charged. It's really slow to focus -- FORGET night photography....it wont catch. In my case, i can't see well at night so it sucks, but basic portrait photos are fine with this lens.

Comments about Sigma Sigma 30mm f/1.4 EX DC HSM AutoFocus Standard Lens for Nikon Digital SLR Cameras.:

Somewhat heavy for a "normal" lens it nevertheless takes pin sharp photos in the lowest of natural light. It focuses very quickly and silently and I've been very happy with the results I've obtained with the Sigma 30mm f1.4 lens.

Comments about Sigma Sigma 30mm f/1.4 EX DC HSM AutoFocus Standard Lens for Nikon Digital SLR Cameras.:

This lens is built like a tank. Candlelight, camp-fires, cathedrals, canyons. I drug this lens all the way through the Middle East and Europe in some of the dustiest, most abusive places - often in just a canvas bag rattling around with all sorts of things - and it has been a solid part of my arsenal for the better part of two years now.

I use it almost exclusively for low-light work, when the Nikkor 17-55/2.8 is still two stops too dark. The Sigma 30/1.4 has surprised me on MULTIPLE occasions.

Sometimes this would be the only lens I would carry because it is such a rock solid performer.

After owning and abusing the lens for almost 2 years, my copy had the HSM autofocus motor go out. A simple call to Sigma and two weeks without it, it was completely repaired and perfect as new. Their service department was quick.

The Sigma 30/1.4, although maybe a little more expensive than the Nikkor competition, is absolutely worth every cent.

Comments about Sigma Sigma 30mm f/1.4 EX DC HSM AutoFocus Standard Lens for Nikon Digital SLR Cameras.:

The lens is tested as somewhat soft except in the center and sharpest overall at f/8. But as mentioned elsewhere it has very impressive light gathering capabilties and in those situations you don't really even need super sharp. For a relatively normal lens (I use a Nikon D80)there is really nothing else.

Comments about Sigma Sigma 30mm f/1.4 EX DC HSM AutoFocus Standard Lens for Nikon Digital SLR Cameras.:

I had been looking at this lens for a while, but had to get it when I didn't realize my new Nikon D40 only took DX lenses. My husband and I shoot weddings, and I love this lens with the camera. The combo is small and lightweight, and takes amazing pictures. I am now sold on prime lenses, and will never use a zoom again. The clarity and detail are superb, and of course the fast 1.4 is perfect in almost every wedding situation. It really is the lens that makes the picture, and this lens has changed our portfolio drastically. Our old film lenses are great (80-200 2.8 and 28-70 2.8), but you can definitely tell that this lens works much better with digital cameras. Love it!

This is a great lens for shooting indoor sports where flashes are prohibited. I get a higher percentage of "keepers" than with my old AF NIKKOR 50mm f/1.4D.

Comments about Sigma Sigma 30mm f/1.4 EX DC HSM AutoFocus Standard Lens for Nikon Digital SLR Cameras.:

I've been using this lens for a few months now. Took it with me on a Wedding shoot for the reception and it was by far my favorite lens for capturing the candid moments. It has survived a pretty hefty drop that broke my D40 but the lens is perfectly OK (both made contact).

Comments about Sigma Sigma 30mm f/1.4 EX DC HSM AutoFocus Standard Lens for Nikon Digital SLR Cameras.:

This is a lens that really is best used for specific jobs. If you need to shoot in low light and cannot use a flash this is your lens. It can have some focus issues, but this is mostly due to the limited depth of field when wide open. I used this lens to take pictures at a show where I couldn't use a flash. It did a great job. Just remember you will get a fair amount of pictures that are blurry, especially if your subject is moving.

Comments about Sigma Sigma 30mm f/1.4 EX DC HSM AutoFocus Standard Lens for Nikon Digital SLR Cameras.:

I owned this product for several months before deciding to trade it for a Nikon 50mm 1.4. I really enjoyed this lens and was able to get some very nice shots with it. It worked very nice shooting landscapes, botany and candids of my twins in all lighting conditions. I used it on my Nikon D80. I would recommend this lens without a doubt.
