I've been using this lens for a few months now. Took it with me on a Wedding shoot for the reception and it was by far my favorite lens for capturing the candid moments. It has survived a pretty hefty drop that broke my D40 but the lens is perfectly OK (both made contact).

Good lens for low light
By Steve L.Verified Reviewer from Cos Cob, CT on 6/20/2008
Best Uses:
Low light performance, Night Photography, Portraits
Describe Yourself:
Hobbyist/Enthusiast
Bottom Line:
Yes, I would recommend this to a friend

This is a lens that really is best used for specific jobs. If you need to shoot in low light and cannot use a flash this is your lens. It can have some focus issues, but this is mostly due to the limited depth of field when wide open. I used this lens to take pictures at a show where I couldn't use a flash. It did a great job. Just remember you will get a fair amount of pictures that are blurry, especially if your subject is moving.

This is a very good-performing low-light and action lens. Beats the pants off the Nikon 50/f1.4.

I have several Canon lenses, but just havent had one with super clarity and color. This lens was highly recommended to me. I have had Leica, Contax and Hasselblad cameras. I think this lense is as good or better then anything I have ever had.

Pros:
Lightweight, Strong Construction
Bottom Line:

I owned this product for several months before deciding to trade it for a Nikon 50mm 1.4. I really enjoyed this lens and was able to get some very nice shots with it. It worked very nice shooting landscapes, botany and candids of my twins in all lighting conditions. I used it on my Nikon D80. I would recommend this lens without a doubt.
