I bought this to provide lightweight support for backpacking. It's a fraction of the cost of a carbon-fiber monopod, yet barely a difference in weight. I use it with a Nikon D300 and Nikon 80-200mm f/2.8 or Tamron 200-500mm f/5-6.3.
I LOVE this thing! Its solid as a rock. I can't say enough about this monopod. I needed a monopod that would hold my 40D with a large zoom lens and battery grip attached. No problem for this beast! This has replaced my tripod for all but my long exposure shots. Great for sports photography. Its not the lightest thing you'll find so if you are looking for super lightweight, this ain't the product for you. But if you want something that will withstand a nuclear blast, throw your money down and pick this up today.

I love this item it has great quality, is easy to transport and adjust, combined with the 3025 3D Junior Head it is wonderful, and the head is easily removed and used on my tripod. Don't hesitate this item is great.

I love this thing! It's built very well, lightweight, and very easy to use. I'm sold on future purchases of Manfrotto/Bogen products.

For the price, I don't think you can find a better monopod than a Bogen 679(B). I started off using a $20 monopod with a Canon Powershot Pro1 and it was so rickety that I almost didn't believe a monopod was worth it. Then I just happened to get one of the Bogen 679B's with the 2322 Tilt/Swivel head- the difference was amazing! I have a Canon 400D now, using a 70-200/4L lens, and can't do anything without my trusty 679B stick. In fact, I recently walked off and left it at a shoot, and had to get another. Instead of moving up to 680s, 681's, etc. I ordered another 679B. It just doesn't get any better!

Although this does not totally eliminate the need for a tripod it makes it much easier in tight spots. The mono pod seems to be well constructed and sturdy.

works well to stabilize the camera when using long lenses. The price is very reasonable considering I'm priced out VR-class lenses. It's a little long when colapsed all the way down but it's very strong, light, and well constructed. Great pictures without dealing with a tripod.

This is a superb monopod. Built like a tank. I have used it at sporting events (shooting from the stands or sidelines) and took great shots otherwise impossible since a tripod was impractical.

Monopod arrived earlier this week and instantly was impressed with the solid feel even at full extension. This is my first experience with a monopod and chose it over an upgrade to my existing tri-pod mostly for portability. I do wish I would have looked for a monopod that would have broken down to a shorter length but this one I'll manage with for now. For the money, this monopod works out well.
My first monopod, still getting used to using it. Trekked around Paris and Brusells with it on some pretty dismal days, I think it helped!
