Comments about Manfrotto by Bogen Imaging Bogen-Manfrotto Three Section Monopod, Black Anodized.:

Not much to say. It is a great monopod for the money, and does its job very well. Clamps are strong, I often find myself propping my weight on it for support and it has no problems holding me. It's relatively compact and light, and the overall construction seems great. Finish is maybe a little delicate to scratches, but nothing major. Very good product from a very good company.

Comments about Manfrotto by Bogen Imaging Bogen-Manfrotto Three Section Monopod, Black Anodized.:

I recently tested this product on over twenty miles of hiking, including some very steep climbs. The monopod is extremely sturdy, supporting my 200 lbs and 15 lb backpack even when I put all of my weight on it. I feel entirely secure and safe putting all of my weight on it and relying on it on any hike.

You can also adjust the height in both sections in just a few seconds. The build of the monopod is great, it is just the right balance of weight and size. Personally, I would not want a lighter monopod as the weight and feel of the manfrotto monopod gives me the impression I could defend myself with it, if needed.

As far as picture taking, it does the job well. I used the monopod without a head for hiking, and it was quick and easy to attach or detach a camera, and I felt comfortable with leaving my camera on the monopod even while moving.

A definite buy, at a perfect price point.

Comments about Manfrotto by Bogen Imaging Bogen-Manfrotto Three Section Monopod, Black Anodized.:

I bought this initially for use in the conservatory at Longwood Gardens as they discourage the use of tripods there. Haven't been there since it has arrived, but I did use it for my class reunion. Shot some stills of the campus, casual shots of my old classmates, then lent my camera and monopod to one of the non-classmate spouses for a group shot. The non-classmate even commented at how comfortable the use of this monopod was. End result was none of my photos were blurry from the shakes and I found myself becoming more patient framing the picture and less concerned about my breathing and shutter release.

Comments about Manfrotto by Bogen Imaging Bogen-Manfrotto Three Section Monopod, Black Anodized.:

I use the 679B to support my 300mm F2.8 lens. I don't think I will notice the weight difference if I bought a carbon fiber monopod.

This is my 2nd 679B, the locking lever on my first one broke but it was my fault, I overtightened the nut. Rather than buying a replacement locking lever I bought a whole new monopod because of the inexpensive price of a new one. I will eventually buy the replacement part and have that as a backup.

Comments about Manfrotto by Bogen Imaging Bogen-Manfrotto Three Section Monopod, Black Anodized.:

I got a new 400mm lens that seems to weigh a lot. It is probably just that I am old and out of shape, but I am pretty sure it is heavy because when I put it on my old monopod the joints collapsed. I didn't want that to happen to me, so I wanted a tall, strong, fast to set up monopod. I wasn't that worried about how light it was as I am not schlepping through the forest, just around a track. I am very happy with this one. It has the added bonus that it actually brings the camera up to my nearly six foot high eye.

Great for shots where a tripod isn't practical. While it isn't as stabile as a tripod, I can take better shots using the monopod than hand holding the camera. I have added a ball head to it and it greatly increased its flexibility for taking nature and landscape shots.

Comments about Manfrotto by Bogen Imaging Bogen-Manfrotto Three Section Monopod, Black Anodized.:

I recently fell in love with photography, and found that I needed a good support for my camera on my many adventures. I did not want to be weighed down with a tripod, however, I knew that I needed something to help stabilize my camera for longer exposure shots. This monopod turned out great. Not only is it sturdy, it is adjustable so that I am able to use it as a walking stick so I don't have to worry about packing it up in a pack when I head out to take pictures.

Comments about Manfrotto by Bogen Imaging Bogen-Manfrotto Three Section Monopod, Black Anodized.:

I bought the Bogen-Manfrotto BG-679B to replace my Giottos MM-9780 5-section aluminum monopod. Not the Giottos wasn't a bad monopod, but it was just big and heavy with very thick tubing. It was very strong and sturdy but it was a chore to lug it everywhere. So I got the 679B. It is a bit lighter and I like the cam-clamps as opposed to the twist clamps, 2 less sections to deal with which is quicker to deploy and adjust and it has a more slender grip. I seem to have lost nothing in stability which is great since the 9780 was built like a tank. Time will tell about the cam clamps but it looks like it'll hold up well. I did lose the combination spike and rubber foot but I never really used the spike anyways so no big loss. I shoot a lot of tele/telezoom sports in low light and having a steady platform in which to shoot from is vital. Plus it prevents fatigue as the 'pod bears the weight of the heavy lenses so I can shoot all day. Anyways, if you are looking for a solid, stable, easy to use, high quality and relatively inexpensive monopod, the 679B is the ticket. It is high value that I can easily recommend.

Comments about Manfrotto by Bogen Imaging Bogen-Manfrotto Three Section Monopod, Black Anodized.:

I've used this monopod for two mounts to hold an 8 lb camera/lens rig for sports photography, i.e, a D300 with a 300/2.8 (6 pounder) and 1.7x extender AND a quick release mount. I shoot about two of my boy's games weekly. There's been no slippage problem. I wasn't crazy about the rubber foot but now I think it's fine. I'm six feet tall and I need a long monopod like this one. I don't know how I'd work that camera/lens combo the length of a game without a good monopod.

I LOVE this thing! Its solid as a rock. I can't say enough about this monopod. I needed a monopod that would hold my 40D with a large zoom lens and battery grip attached. No problem for this beast! This has replaced my tripod for all but my long exposure shots. Great for sports photography. Its not the lightest thing you'll find so if you are looking for super lightweight, this ain't the product for you. But if you want something that will withstand a nuclear blast, throw your money down and pick this up today.

Comments about Manfrotto by Bogen Imaging Bogen-Manfrotto Three Section Monopod, Black Anodized.:

For the price, I don't think you can find a better monopod than a Bogen 679(B). I started off using a $20 monopod with a Canon Powershot Pro1 and it was so rickety that I almost didn't believe a monopod was worth it. Then I just happened to get one of the Bogen 679B's with the 2322 Tilt/Swivel head- the difference was amazing! I have a Canon 400D now, using a 70-200/4L lens, and can't do anything without my trusty 679B stick. In fact, I recently walked off and left it at a shoot, and had to get another. Instead of moving up to 680s, 681's, etc. I ordered another 679B. It just doesn't get any better!

Monopod arrived earlier this week and instantly was impressed with the solid feel even at full extension. This is my first experience with a monopod and chose it over an upgrade to my existing tri-pod mostly for portability. I do wish I would have looked for a monopod that would have broken down to a shorter length but this one I'll manage with for now. For the money, this monopod works out well.
