I was pleasantly surprised with this head. Very smooth and excellent machining quality for the size and price. Annodizing quality of the metal is good with a nice satin low luster surface.

The QR plate is nice and attaches easily to a camera without the need for a hex wrench or coin. The quick release is compatible with the Adorama F4 head (though the Joby plates are shorter - more square in size and less rectangular), Really Right Stuff, SwissAcra, etc. Being interchangeable is nice if you have various tripods for different needs or want an upgrade path to bigger ballheads that doesn't obsolete your spare QR plates.

This is a very nice small ball head and is perfect for small lightweigth tripods and actually almost overkill for the Gorilla flexible leg thing that Joby often mates this with.

This can be used instead of a tripod in many situations, and it's much easier to pack and carry.
