Solid performer at a good price. It's a bit bulky despite its light weight but it delivers a solid platform and the head unit works very nicely. I thought I'd need a separate ballhead, but so far I haven't needed it.

For the price this tripod is a great find. I elected to spend the extra $$, and am really glad that I did. The 3-way head is nice, but I had to replace it with a ball head. The levers that controlled the axis motion were set at awkward angles and were uncomfortable to use. This was my one and only complaint about the tripod. The legs are sturdy and make for sharp long exposure shots. They don't have the quick release, but honestly you have more control with the twist locks as far as ensuring that the legs don't unexpectedly retract. The legs can be positioned at 3 angles (25, 45, & 80 degrees) for a nice change in height, and coupled with the leg extensions you have a total package. All three legs are padded and this makes it a joy to carry around outside of the storage bag. I did notice that the feet do not have the retractable spikes, but that is just some FYI. I never really use those things anyway. There is also a 'rock tray' that you can use to weigh the tripod down with, and ,although I have yet to use it, it will prove to be a nice add on during some outdoor shoots. This is a strong, lightweight, well-made (carbon fiber and magnesium)tripod for a very reasonable price. I bought it expecting to replace the head, but the one provided is fine and I never did. It only weighs 4 lbs. and is very stable. Add the included carrying case and a lifetime warranty, and you have the best tripod value around.
