I was looking for a tripod that was compact yet stable when setup. Most compact tripods use such small diameter tubing that they become very unstable when extended to their maximum height. However, this tripod, yet compact, is very stable even when a Canon XTi with a 75-300mm lens is used on it. I would highly recommend this tripod to anyone who is looking for a lightweight, compact, unit that is very suitable for travel.When I first unpacked this unit, I thought that the tilt handle was missing. However, Velbon's clever design is such that the tilt handle unscrews (for transport), and it screwed into the end of the "pan" handle. This feature makes ths unit even more compact for travel.In addition to this tripod, I highly recommend that anyone who buys this unit also purchase the Velbon QRA-3 Quick Release Adapter. This unit makes installing and removing your camera from the tripod a "snap".One last thing, "KUDOS" to Adorama[...]

I love my new tripod. It is small when folded, lightweight, and very tall, even without using the center post. My only gripe is that the second control rod needs to be removed in order to get the tripod in its bag. I will be looking at the local hardware store for something smaller that will fit.
