Well built Manfrotto tripod
By BobVerified Purchaser from Boise, ID on 5/9/2008
Pros:
Foam leg covers, Foldover center riser, Good Stability, Multiple leg positions, Various leg tips availabl
Cons:
Plain tips on tripod legs
Best Uses:
Ground level shots, Long Exposures, Stabilization
Describe Yourself:
Hobbyist/Enthusiast
Bottom Line:
Yes, I would recommend this to a friend

Useful for low shots and where most tripods get in the way. The center post can be rotated 90 degrees so the head can be positioned over the subject without the legs being in the area. Nice smooth finish in black with foam covers on two legs (good for cold weather). Sturdy construction of aluminium. A tad on the heavy side but that's what I wanted for good stability and strength. Plenty of strength for heavier loads.

Great Design

Pros:
Good Stability, Lightweight
Cons:
Not as strong as expected
Best Uses:
Long Exposures, Photography, Portraits, Reducing Noise (ISO Reduction), Stabilization

This tripod is really quite solid, fully extended it is not as stable as I had expected it would be. But you have the option to widen the stance of the tripod which increases stability, The center column does just as advertised and can be completely horitontal. This is a solid tripod, I would not hesitate purchasing it

I purchased the Bogen/Manfrotto 190XPROB Tripod Legs in November, 2007, along with the 804RC2 3-Way Pan/Tilt Head and the 486RC2 Compact Ball Head.I became used to heavy, bulky tripods in the 1970s and thought the only alternative was cheap, lightweight junk from the superstores or expensive equipment from the pro shops. The 190 series puts professional quality within the grasp of the serious, middle-income photographer. Yes, the setup set me back nearly [$], but this is a super-versatile tripod system I will never outgrow or need to upgrade. This system is not the lightest around -- the 190 series is now available with carbon fiber tubes and magnesium castings -- but with its 3-section legs it is rock solid. It is more flexible than I am, able to get within a foot or so of the ground. The center column's 90-degree capability makes a nice copy stand. It is a bit on the heavy side, but that is the trade-off for strength. The price is not in the budget category, but the quality of the 190XPROB stands it with the best professional equipment. The only accessory I could see adding to the Bogen/Manfrotto line is a longer center column, for more height or additional reach in copy-stand mode.

Good for the price
By AlVerified Purchaser from Las Vegas on 3/6/2008
Pros:
Folds Small
Cons:
Lower legs flex, Unstable

Well made but for a D300 with a 18-200mm zoomed out, lower legs flexed and induced vibration. Would recommend if you had a lighter combo.

Great Tripod!
By Photos by Vince from Chicago Area on 1/30/2008

Folds Small, Good Stability, Leg warmers, Unfolds Quickly
Cons:
Heavy
Best Uses:
Long Exposures, Photography, Portraits, Stabilization

This tripod is great. I live and work in the midwest and the leg warmers are a must if you shoot outdoors in cold weather. If the tripod came with a carry strap, it would be better because it is a little heavy to carry around on long days. A tripod is a must to get shots such as the one I show here.

Stable, quick, solid. Love it!

It's not a compact, travel tripod, but it is amazingly stable and quick to set up. I also love the cool swivel feature that allows the head to be extended horizontally. Really cool!

My first tripod. Used for 10 days on a phototour of the Canadian Rockies. Fantastic item. The tour director plans on recommending this tripod to future travelers with his company.

I use this tripod with a Manfrotto 3D Magnesium head. Supports SLRs, but is light enough to work well with point and shoot cameras and binoculars. Friends who have seen this combination have purchased it for themselves. This is a great value for a light and sturdy tripod.

Nice tripod for the price
By DubaiNeil from Dubai, UAE on 7/19/2007
Pros:
'Side' head mounting, Good Stability, Multiple leg settings, Unfolds Quickly
Cons:
A little Heavy, Leg catches quite stiff
Best Uses:
Long Exposures, Macro, Reducing Noise (ISO Reduction), Stabilization
Describe Yourself:
Hobbyist/Enthusiast
Bottom Line:
Yes, I would recommend this to a friend

Nice tripod for the price. Currently using this with an Arca-Swiss B1 ball head (complete over-kill, but it was a gift!). The leg catches are a touch stiff, but should loosen up with some use. The multiple angle locking for the legs is a useful feature, with four positions on each leg. There is a knack to using this, where the leg has to be 'moved' back slightly to the centre to allow the catch to release. Nicest feature is the ability for the centre column to be released from the tripod and angled horizontal to the floor.
I bought this mainly for macro work after the Slik beginner tripod I have was too flexy and unstable. I wouldn't like to try a day long hike with this though!
