I love this tripod, the horizontal function is great when you want to get really low on those particular landscape or cityscape shots. It is very sturdy and not heavy for an alluminum tripod. Unfolds quickly and works great, especially with the right head attached. I would recommend to anyone that doesn't quite have the money to purchase a carbon fiber yet.
Comments about Bogen Imaging Bogen - Manfrotto 190XPROB 3 Section Black Aluminum Pro Tripod Legs (Height 3.15" - 57", Maximum Load 11 lbs):
Extremely surprised with the quality of the build of this tripod. It is very strong and will hold much more than the 11 stated pounds. This is good to use anywhere, and will hold more kit than expected.

Just got this last month and have used it in studio and on location (indoors). Seems very stable though I haven't yet had it outside on uneven surfaces or windy conditions. I love the flip leg locks and horizontal column feature. Not the lightest weight but wasn't expecting that for this price point. As a mountain climber/backpacker, I'm used to carrying heavy loads! I thought about getting the 055XPROB for the additional load capability but this is a perfect first tripod that will suffice for some time and eventually make a great backup.

Solid construction, and everything works so smooth. Used this for outdoor nighttime work with long exposure, and didn't have any vibration from the light wind – even with my 300mm zoom attached. Sold me on the Manfrotto brand.

Comments about Bogen Imaging Bogen - Manfrotto 190XPROB 3 Section Black Aluminum Pro Tripod Legs (Height 3.15" - 57", Maximum Load 11 lbs):
Bought this tripod for my trip to Lake Tahoe. Purchased this w/ a Manfrotto 496 Ballhead. I needed a lightweight but sturdy tripod for travel use. I was able to attach the tripod to my backpack w/o any noticeable weight gain. It was easy to unfold. The leg tabs are a bit stiff but secure.
Overall impressions of this were that it is a well built piece of equipment. Easy to use and set up. Light weight for travel and hiking. Folds to an acceptable compact size to fit into luggage and small enough to put on a camera backpack.
Comments about Bogen Imaging Bogen - Manfrotto 190XPROB 3 Section Black Aluminum Pro Tripod Legs (Height 3.15" - 57", Maximum Load 11 lbs):
When the center column is extended to its maximum, cameras with a long lens are unstable requiring remote shutter release or steadying with the off hand. Otherwise, not a bad piece of equipment.

LAST SECTIONS NEED TO BE A BIT MORE STOUT. I BELIEVE THE RATED WEIGHT IS UNDERSTATED. MINE IS USED WITH A GINBLE HEAD, NIKON D700 AND 80/400VR LENS WITH NO PROBLEM. THIS HANDLES NICELY IN THE FIELS AS WELLL AS AT HOME AS IS A "PERFECT MATCH TO MY MIGHTY LOW BOY. WOULD LIKE TO SEE A STOUTER VERSION IN THE $300.00 RANGE.

This is a nice tripod. It is light enough to carry with you. It is not a full-size tripod... more of a 3/4 size tripod. It serves my purpose well. I would rather have a small tripod with me than a big tripod at home.

Comments about Bogen Imaging Bogen - Manfrotto 190XPROB 3 Section Black Aluminum Pro Tripod Legs (Height 3.15" - 57", Maximum Load 11 lbs):
Recently upgraded to this tripod after my primary tripod failed during a shoot. I discovered that my former tripod could not support the weight of my Canon RebelXT with 75-300 lens and hotshoe flash while flipped to "portrait" . I ended up having to back up and shoot 50 portraits in landscape. I decided to invest in the Manfrotto and now that I've upgraded to a heavier camera I'm glad I did. It is extremely stable even in the wind. It can be used very low to the ground and at odd angles. The only thing I would wish for is that the carbon fiber model would have been within my budget. As this tripod, since it is aluminum construction is fairly heavy. It would be quite heavy to take this tripod on a hike in the rocky mountains. However for average use that doesn't involve mile plus hikes over rough terrain this tripod is spot on. I actually use this one more than my old one because it gives vastly superior performance.
Comments about Bogen Imaging Bogen - Manfrotto 190XPROB 3 Section Black Aluminum Pro Tripod Legs (Height 3.15" - 57", Maximum Load 11 lbs):
Pretty lightweight and a great price for the quality of product you get. Each leg is adjustable and the horizontal boom arm is nice to have for macro shots.
Comments about Bogen Imaging Bogen - Manfrotto 190XPROB 3 Section Black Aluminum Pro Tripod Legs (Height 3.15" - 57", Maximum Load 11 lbs):
This tripod is a major improvement over my present tripod. It isn't real heavy duty, but will certainly prove to serve it's purpose in almost any situation. Light, quick to set up and with the Bogen grip release, a great combo.
Comments about Bogen Imaging Bogen - Manfrotto 190XPROB 3 Section Black Aluminum Pro Tripod Legs (Height 3.15" - 57", Maximum Load 11 lbs):
I use it when I'm capturing fireworks, capturing landscape vistas, and very close-ups of interesting things I discover as I walk on trails. I purchased the add-on feet for use on sand, snow, or soft wet ground. Manfrotto makes great ones.
Comments about Bogen Imaging Bogen - Manfrotto 190XPROB 3 Section Black Aluminum Pro Tripod Legs (Height 3.15" - 57", Maximum Load 11 lbs):
Great tripod at a great value. I would buy this same tripod again without hesitation. Swivel arm is pretty handy for macro work.
Comments about Bogen Imaging Bogen - Manfrotto 190XPROB 3 Section Black Aluminum Pro Tripod Legs (Height 3.15" - 57", Maximum Load 11 lbs):
I paired this 190XPROB3 with a Manfrotto Midi Ball Head with RC2 Rapid Connection support for use with my D90. The largest load I've given it is the D90 with 80-200mm lens(with doubler) It handles this with ease. I use it principally for portraits, telephoto and low light photography. I use a CF Monopod for travel so this is principally a stay-at-home bit of kit. This tripod is just what I was looking for - well made, easy to use and stable without being overkill. I find the leg release mechanisms tight and precise and the bubble level usefull. I've exercised the various mounting positions (beneath and right angle) and, while they seem to work well, I have only photographed useing the normal top mount. The padded grips are a nice touch and the overall workmanship is excellent. If you are looking for gear for extream, exotic circumstances you'll probably look elsewhere but if you want a cost effective, flexible tripod for "normal" usage and reasonable loads, this is an excellent choice.

This is a sturdy stable tripod which is very easy to use. It's a bit heavy to carry on a long hike for example, but otherwise I cannot find fault with it.
I could not justify paying nearly double for the carbon fiber model.
I use it mainly for flower photography, portraits, and landscapes. I use the 486RC2 ball head which works well.
Good value for money!
Comments about Bogen Imaging Bogen - Manfrotto 190XPROB 3 Section Black Aluminum Pro Tripod Legs (Height 3.15" - 57", Maximum Load 11 lbs):
Nice set of legs. Well made, very stable, VERY height adjustable. The leg locks are very snug. I like the built in level. I am 5'4" and the unit is ideal in height for me. Truly enjoy how low to the ground it goes. Probably a couple lbs heavier than carbon fiber, but not an issue for me, and very reasonably priced. Very happy with my purchase.

I used to disdain tripods, since I felt that they slowed me down when doing outdoor portraits. I've coupled mine with the Manfrotto Compact Ball-Head and I don't feel hampered in the least bit. Actually, I now can leave my camera at the desired composition to adjust clothing, hair, etc. of my subject. Best of all, there are less "trash" shots which were the result camera shake. q;~)

This is a great "take-along" tripod. It might not meet up to studio standards holding medium format camera or a long heavy 500mm lens in a gale, but carrying it is much easier! I have used it now for several weeks inside, outside, beach, mountains and I am very happy.
Comments about Bogen Imaging Bogen - Manfrotto 190XPROB 3 Section Black Aluminum Pro Tripod Legs (Height 3.15" - 57", Maximum Load 11 lbs):
Hi -
This is my first "real" tripod, and I really love it. My old (25+ years) had twist locks on the legs, and they always bothered me. This tripod does exactly what it says, for a moderate price.
I am a mechanical engineer, and so I'm picky about my gear. I know this may not be the "absolute best" tripod money can buy, but it certainly seems like a good value for the money. I shopped for several weeks before deciding on this.
It is heavier than I expected, before you buy a tripod (or head), get a bathroom scale and some old milk jugs filled with water... I would NOT recommend hiking for days through the wilderness with this tripod, but it works great for a short 2-4 hour hike.

Works great with what I need to do. Very satisfied with the value, workmanship, design. Very reliable and perfect in the studio. A little heavier than I want for off-site shoots. If I had to do it over again, I'd probably get one that is taller and/or possibly something more portable.

Comments about Bogen Imaging Bogen - Manfrotto 190XPROB 3 Section Black Aluminum Pro Tripod Legs (Height 3.15" - 57", Maximum Load 11 lbs):
This tripod was purchased as a part of a kit along with the Manfrotto 484RC2 mini ball head. Each part is high quality, I am pleased with the performance of each component in this system and they should give many years of service. My only concern/reservation is that the ball head is too small for the tripod. One of the key security features of this tripod is that the mounting plate has three screws used to put tension on the head in order to make a more secure connection between the head and the tripod. In this case, the ball head is so small that it completely misses these screws. That said, I have yet to have a problem with this system, but I constantly wonder when the head will work loose. And this was one reason why I wanted to buy a high quality tripod system in the first place.
Two of the three set screws that this head misses.

Comments about Bogen Imaging Bogen - Manfrotto 190XPROB 3 Section Black Aluminum Pro Tripod Legs (Height 3.15" - 57", Maximum Load 11 lbs):
I just received the product and have started to put it through its paces. It feels somewhat flimsy, but photos have been tack sharp with a shutter release cable. If you have a heavier SLR you simply won't find a lighter tripod in this price range with this stability. It's light enough to carry on a trail, but the Bogen Carry Strap BO102 does not sit comfortably with a ball head attached. The lever locks don't appear to be weather sealed, so I would not recommend it as a daily trail tripod or for use in mud/water.
Make sure to turn VR off!

Comments about Bogen Imaging Bogen - Manfrotto 190XPROB 3 Section Black Aluminum Pro Tripod Legs (Height 3.15" - 57", Maximum Load 11 lbs):
Useful for low shots and where most tripods get in the way. The center post can be rotated 90 degrees so the head can be positioned over the subject without the legs being in the area. Nice smooth finish in black with foam covers on two legs (good for cold weather). Sturdy construction of aluminium. A tad on the heavy side but that's what I wanted for good stability and strength. Plenty of strength for heavier loads.

This tripod is really quite solid, fully extended it is not as stable as I had expected it would be. But you have the option to widen the stance of the tripod which increases stability, The center column does just as advertised and can be completely horitontal. This is a solid tripod, I would not hesitate purchasing it

Comments about Bogen Imaging Bogen - Manfrotto 190XPROB 3 Section Black Aluminum Pro Tripod Legs (Height 3.15" - 57", Maximum Load 11 lbs):
I purchased the Bogen/Manfrotto 190XPROB Tripod Legs in November, 2007, along with the 804RC2 3-Way Pan/Tilt Head and the 486RC2 Compact Ball Head.I became used to heavy, bulky tripods in the 1970s and thought the only alternative was cheap, lightweight junk from the superstores or expensive equipment from the pro shops. The 190 series puts professional quality within the grasp of the serious, middle-income photographer. Yes, the setup set me back nearly [$], but this is a super-versatile tripod system I will never outgrow or need to upgrade. This system is not the lightest around -- the 190 series is now available with carbon fiber tubes and magnesium castings -- but with its 3-section legs it is rock solid. It is more flexible than I am, able to get within a foot or so of the ground. The center column's 90-degree capability makes a nice copy stand. It is a bit on the heavy side, but that is the trade-off for strength. The price is not in the budget category, but the quality of the 190XPROB stands it with the best professional equipment. The only accessory I could see adding to the Bogen/Manfrotto line is a longer center column, for more height or additional reach in copy-stand mode.

This tripod is great. I live and work in the midwest and the leg warmers are a must if you shoot outdoors in cold weather. If the tripod came with a carry strap, it would be better because it is a little heavy to carry around on long days. A tripod is a must to get shots such as the one I show here.
2 Second exposure in LOW light!

Comments about Bogen Imaging Bogen - Manfrotto 190XPROB 3 Section Black Aluminum Pro Tripod Legs (Height 3.15" - 57", Maximum Load 11 lbs):
Nice tripod for the price. Currently using this with an Arca-Swiss B1 ball head (complete over-kill, but it was a gift!). The leg catches are a touch stiff, but should loosen up with some use. The multiple angle locking for the legs is a useful feature, with four positions on each leg. There is a knack to using this, where the leg has to be 'moved' back slightly to the centre to allow the catch to release. Nicest feature is the ability for the centre column to be released from the tripod and angled horizontal to the floor.
I bought this mainly for macro work after the Slik beginner tripod I have was too flexy and unstable. I wouldn't like to try a day long hike with this though!
