Yes, I would recommend this to a friend
The only thing better would be for the tripod to come premade with the insulated leg protectors, but I'm glad these are available. It prevents having to handle the metal legs on cold days, and also provides a better grip when moving the tripod around. Plus, and this is not a matter of improving functionality, they give the pod a better look, not to mention a better feel.
