This bubble is intended to be installed at the bottom of the tripod column to level the tripod. At that position, it is pretty far from the camera and is not easy to see because it is much too small. It looks very much like an afterthought by Gitzo. On the other hand, if you have a tripod without a level, you do need something for taking panoramas.
