I am a pro videographer and my assignments cause me to stand and look through my view finder for long lengths of time. With this clamp, I strap down my 10" portable dvd player that doubles as my field monitor. I use three cameras and I have a crew that operates my cameras. I can easily look over their shoulders and see what they are recording. This kit is secure enough that I can simply grab my bogen tripod(s) and move them as needed without worrying about my monitors falling while I am literally running to the other side of a room. Because I use portable monitors, I am not tethered to an electrical outlet nor wires running back to the switcher. It gives me the freedom to move my video cameras while still connected to my tripod(s)and the monitor. The double straps that come with this unit keeps my monitors perfectly still, snug, safe while I concentrate on moving my tripod(s). This is a vital piece of my equipment. Once you use it, you'll wonder why you hadn't bought &/or used one sooner....

I had been searching for a shelf-like add-on for my Manfrotto Tripod, specifically, one that would hold my MacBook while my Canon is tethered to the laptop. I had seen one in a picture with Scott Kelby but after seeing his set-up, I knew that whatever the cost, it was out of my price range. Then, after performing a search on [@], this one appeared by Manfrotto. I was elated, yet, skeptical but knowing what Adorama's return policy was and knowing about their policy of fairness, I ordered it nonetheless. [...] and I was able to install it within two - five minutes...Although the equipment is noted as a, "Video Monitor Platform," and yes it could be used as such, it does suit my needs, which is to hold my MacBook Laptop. It holds it very solid and secure, without any vibration and I have also padded it with a piece of foam rubber and lens wraps, so that it does not scratch the computer.I could not have asked for anything better than what it is. The design, the quality and the usefulness it provides is more than I expected. It is absolutely priced very fair and should last many, many years.

You can use this to hold a small laptop computer or extra lenses but i found it worked best as a tray to hold my portable dvd player. I use the moniter to see the image i shot through a 9.5 inch moniter
