I have been a 2 camera shooter, with a tele lens on one and a wide on the other fore sometime. I had been using Rebels but purchased a 40D when they came out (selling my XTi to finance the deal).
Using the 40D quickly educated me on the short comings of my Rebels and so I reconsidered using my XT as the second camera.
After much deliberation I purchased a demo 30D from Adorama to replace my Rebel XT. In a couple of days I was the owner of a 30D and couldn't be happier. (I wish I had switched sooner!)
The demo did not have one mark or scratch on it and appeared to have just come out of the box. I put a CF card in it, a lens on it and was snapping away instantly!
Having 2 cameras of the same size and feel is so important to me. The viewfinder of the 30D is larger and clearer than the one on the XT! Worth the cost just fore that feature alone!
Once I got used to the differences in the menu and button layout I was good to go. I can switch back and forth with very little effort (unlike my previous situation!).
The 30D is a very good compliment to the 40D if you are looking fore a second camera and would be a great starter camera when your funds are limited. I highly recommend the 30D and the demo version sold by Adorama.
