Yes, I would recommend this to a friend
A lot of bang for the buck, I use this and the newer S-9100 for weddings. My assistant uses Canon, and I prefer Fuji for the skin tones, also not having to swap lenses is a protection on locations like beaches, etc. Tilting LCD allows overhead or the face of a 3-year old to be taken from same position. But don't get this if you aren't willing to STUDY the nearly 100 page manual. I think it's worth it.
