Yes, I would recommend this to a friend
I've had this camera for more than a few years. It replaced a 7000i that started giving me problems with some lenses (but that still works with others!). It's been great for all my needs. The major complaint is that on some zooms at full out it will tend to hunt a little. I've used it at the USGP and had great results in burst mode. I'm buying a Sony DSLR A100, but I'm keeping this as a backup/second.
