i've been using a canon 20d for the last few years with good results.i wanted something smaller and lighter for travel.tried rebel xti.didn't like it and exchanged it for the d40.using it more and more for all my pictures except sports shots.added sb400 for flash.just took pictures at a party with great flash results..this camera is a winner
