Pros:
Easy to Use, Fast Shutter Speed, Good Battery Life, Good sized screen, Rugged

Heavy, Not Good In Low Light

Yes, I would recommend this to a friend
I use it with the HL battery holder so battery life is not really an issue. But it wieghs a ton. Camera construction is amazing, you can knock tent pegs in with it and it will still function. Great pictures even at the now antiquated 5 MP but its versatility and programming still surpass leading 10+ MP cameras today. Only complaint its autofocus is very poor in low light. As an entry level 'previously enjoyed' camera this is a bargain. My 7 year old son often uses mine!
