I bought several generic (Dolica) replacements and they stopped working after about 1.5 years. The Canon battery that came with the camera still works after 2 years of plenty of usage. The Canon is more than 2-5 times the price of generics though so, depending on how long you plan to have your camera, it may make sense to buy generics instead. When travelling, sometimes I'd go through 3 batteries per day. If the Canon did have a longer charge than the Dolica generics, it was not apparent.

This is Canon's product, therefore it is a direct replacement that delivers OEM performance. I must confess that I should have purchased a store brand battery also just to compare the two. It is a huge price difference between the name brand and the store brand.

This battery is worth the extra money because, like a certain little bunny, it gives you power for a long time. It has been rare to need a second one even when shooting a wedding and reception. It is simply the best.

I go on vacation frequently and am traving to Italy in October - this was purchased to be a back up to the original. I now am comfortable that I will not be stuck without power in my camera.

Canon's batteries have never given me any problems when used with Canon products. So far, I use OE batteries with my Rebel XTI and have had consistent battery life. Although they're more than twice as much as a generic brand, these batteries get the job done.

Each user must have one as backup !

Each Canon G9 user must have one. G9 needs too much power specially when you use LCD. So you should have an original backup battery with you and no worry for power.

Canon hit the nail on the head with this one. Canon's batteries last longer and charge quicker than any aftermarket brand available. Spend the extra money and buy Canon products for your Canon Camera. It pays off in the end.

There are two options when it comes to Batteries. The Original ...With a real warranty and service behind it, and then there is a cheaper copy...How many times do you keep buying a cheap copy before you realise you should have just bought the real thing FIRST time

Bought the Canon name brand battery based on bad reviews for the generic brand and am very happy with my choice. Would highly recommend getting a second battery - I always seem to have my first battery lose power during the most critical time. Recharges fast.

I wouldn't have bought any other brand - I bought this as a second battery for my Canon Digital Rebel XTI. It charges quickly, comes with a "jacket" for when I'm not using it, and the battery seems to last quite a long time. LOVE IT!

When I read mixed reviews on the aftermarket brands I decided to go for the manufacturers battery as a backup for my Rebel XTi. So far it seems to be the right choice since it charges quickly and lasts long enough for several photo outings including lots of picture reviews.
