Comments about VholdR VholdR ContourHD 1080p Wearable Camcorder with 1920 x 1080p HD Recording and MicroSD Flash Memory Slot:
This is a great little camera for POV shots of a lot of different sports activities. It's small, lightweight and reasonably resistive to moderate weather and road conditions. It's easy to set-up and to use, with a large on/off button that can be operated with gloves and a button to project two laser lights to allow the user to twist a ring around the front that somehow aligns the sensor with the horizon. Pictures are recorded in high-definition 1080p and are of acceptable quality for a lens with fixed focal length and fixed aperture. I would like to see more accessories for this unit. I've ordered the waterproof housing, but it hasn't actually been released yet [...].I mounted my camera on a bicycle helmet with a scalloped surface, so the mounting plate did not make much contact and I don't really trust the double-stick pads anyway, so I discarded the pads and used silicon adhesive, which seems to work pretty well. A nice accessory would be a lens cap to keep from scratching the front glass when packing or not in use. It would also be nice to have a stand with a flat bottom and a ¼" receptacle for a tripod. Then you could take the camera off the helmet, do a little introduction, "This is what I'm going to attempt," put the camera back on the helmet and do the stunt, then take it off for a comment about what happened. The unit is designed to re-charge using a computer's USB port, which is a nice option, but not a desirable requirement. Even the battery charger plugs into a USB port. My MacBook Pro has only two USB ports and some devices work on one side, but not the other, some won't work with a USB hub. The last thing I want is a device that only charges when my computer is plugged in and has a free port. I plan to get a Delkin USB/AC adapter, but I shouldn't have to. I would prefer a slightly longer focal length or optical zoom. At present, the camera catches just a little of the visor, but it annoys me. Another accessory that might be nice would be a bracket to hold two cameras in parallel for 3-D and a software package to combine the footage. I haven't tried it, but you would probably also need some synchronized time signal. Tachyon has such a bracket, but their cameras are standard definition.
