Comments about Adorama Adorama "Hands Free" Camcorder and Digital Camera Shoulder Support Bracket for Professional Shoulder Support:

For[$], it's a great option for DSLRs, in my opinion better than $1000+ redrock/zacuto for when you're using a simple camera & lens setup w/o accessories. HOWEVER, I was recently on a shoot and the plastic riser snapped clean off its tie down and sent my camera into a free fall. Luckily I caught it before it hit the ground, but, my god. It wasn't a heavy setup either, just a 7D with a 24-70mm. So be wary of the riser! I will continue to use it with just the flat plate and hope that doesn't snap off too. I guess you get what you pay for.

Comments about Adorama Adorama "Hands Free" Camcorder and Digital Camera Shoulder Support Bracket for Professional Shoulder Support:

I like the idea of having a better way to hand hold my Canonxh a1. Simple design and for the price why not. 1st problem the pot metal nut was stripped in the first thread, I have tool to fix. Add a buck to the price use stainless hardware I'm guessing this is not uncommon. Nuts are pressed into the plastic casing, pot metal is soft, so the press can damage the nut. Not 100% happy with cam position. also the unit rests against the sternum. every breath causes movement. Longer arm should fix. I think I can modify it to work for me. so will keep. 50% on recommend.

As everyone stated so far this is the best bang for the buck, and it is sturdy, for the one person who doesn't get where the 2 parts supposed to go, I guess you shouldn't be doing film, One of the parts is an eye elevator that brings the camera to eye level, the other is a bracket with a cold shoe, that allows you to place both a mic or light near the camera when you record.

It's cheap and it works, with one caveat: I work with a group of camera people, some of whom are women, and if you have anything bigger than a b-cup this is not the rig for you! Your bosom will be squashed uncomfortably.

A great help in steadying the camera without having to use a tripod, or monopod. However, I did add hand-grips for additional control.

Comments about Adorama Adorama "Hands Free" Camcorder and Digital Camera Shoulder Support Bracket for Professional Shoulder Support:

It bought this on the advise of two professional videographers who, like me, found the alternatives by Red Rock or Zacuto or anyone else prohibitively expensive. At [$], I figured it would be a minor loss even if it sucked. It didn't. In fact it works better than I expected, enabling steadier shots of moving subjects than anything handheld can. It is light and fairly comfortable to use and my HD SLR sits exactly where I want it. It folds down into a small size when you want to switch to tripod. But it very cheaply made. One of the sockets was stripped, requiring me to use spare tripod parts to re-design one mount. That was right out of the box. I needed to shoot with it the next day--no time for returns. It rests on your chest, so breathing while shooting is a problem. It doesn't work that well if you are wearing a coat, the shoulder brace slid off because it couldn't seat properly. But I'm glad I have it for run and gun situations where tripods just won't do.

Comments about Adorama Adorama "Hands Free" Camcorder and Digital Camera Shoulder Support Bracket for Professional Shoulder Support:

A single sheet of instructions would help. I have no idea where two of the parts go. Until someone at adorama responds to my previous email complaint, it is just a pile of parts.

Works well with my HVX200 and RedRock M2
By RobWVerified Reviewer from Liberty Hill TX on 6/12/2010
Pros:
Compact Design, Easy To Use, Highly Compatible, Improves Performance
Best Uses:
Home Movies, Independent Films
Describe Yourself:

Bottom Line:

Comments about Adorama Adorama "Hands Free" Camcorder and Digital Camera Shoulder Support Bracket for Professional Shoulder Support:

I put My HVX200 and REDROCK M2 rig on it and it balanced hands free. The heavier the rig the more pressure you will have on your chest though, so breathing will cause movement on your image. I would suggest adding a mono pole to your belt to remove some pressure from your chest.
Other than that it is a nice little rig.

Great tool for the price. Really did help me be more steady, I do feel a little limited because it really is set in one place. But can't beat the tool for the price. Stays on pretty well, you can adjust it.

I use this product for my High Definition cameras, and it's really great. A lot of equipment for the price. First I thought was some misprint, and later I discovered was really the price. I was expecting to pay ten times more. It's a must if you're between lot of peoples, for wedding, events, etc. Wow, this is the best buy for me on 2010!

First thing, the price, and second, a lot of equipment for the money. `first `i thought about a mistake because of that price. And if you're patient[...] high quality and a price that put a smile on my face. This is priced at a ten of I would expect to buy it. I do highly recommend this product!
