It's an ok machine for the money but it doesn't always start rewinding the tape when you push start, but, if you mess with it a little bit, it starts. So, to me, it's worth it because it's better than having the camera always rewinding tapes.

Do not buy this defective equipment. It destroys the tape container and the tapes.

I want to use this rewinder so that I may not use my xl1s. but this is a very noisy, useless rewinder.

Comments about Digital Concepts Digital Concepts Mini DV Video Tape Rewinder for Digital Camcorder Cassettes:
This rewinder damaged valuable footage. It CONSISTENTLY rewinds and fast forwards tapes unevenly on the spool, causing them to crease and tangle within the reel. Once it damaged my first
valuable tape, I tested it with three other tapes that were "throwaways" and every single tape was creased.

Comments about Digital Concepts Digital Concepts Mini DV Video Tape Rewinder for Digital Camcorder Cassettes:
Unfortunately, it looks like there are only two brands of Mini-DV rewinders on the market. I'll be trying the other one, because this one is no good. I used it on about ten tapes and it caused damage to three of them. In all three cases, it disengages the back panel on the tape (the flat of plastic that sits behind the tape). I was able to replace the panel with a small scredriver, but on one of my tapes, it caused crinkling on a section of the tape material itself.
Insertion is not quick with this device, and after the first problem, I took even more time to make sure each tape was inserted correctly. This problem still occured.
It does have auto-stop and can reverse directions, but I do not recomend this to anyone. Rewinding tapes is part of proper storage, but I'd rather leave my tapes un-rewound than rick damage to the cassette or the material inside.
