About SBIG 1.25"" Baader UV+IR

The Baader UV / IR blocking filter is essentially a luminance filter. It is included with ST-2000XCM color cameras to improve the color balance of the single shot color CCD by blocking the near IR light.

It can be placed behind a camera lens adapter. It is used to block the "out of focus" near IR light that causes stars to look bloated with using a typical 35mm camera lens to shoot wide field images.

  • Ultrahard and durable Ion-Beam IR Cut coatings, may be cleaned anytime without fear.
  • Hard and absolutely scratch resistant 7-layer multicoat featuring 0.3% residual reflection versus the 4.6% of an uncoated substrate.
  • Freedom from ghost images due to highest quality coatings. Planeoptically polished. Retains full image resolution even at highest magnification during solar observation or eyepiece projection.
  • Larger clear aperture than any competing 1.25" filter.
  • Better, more elaborate filter cell design than any competing filter, featuring a CNC-milled "crown" for ease of handling and attachment.
