Rock solid

Seagate hard drives are and have been rock solid for me, been using them since about 1984. This one was for a new server I built for a Windows Server 2008. Runs like a champ.

The Seagate 500 GB Barracuda Internal Hard Drive (3.5") offers high reliability and performance, making it suitable for use in desktop applications. It features a 3 Gbps SATA II interface, 7200 RPM rotational speed and 16 MB cache. In addition, the hard drive offers 4.16 ms average latency and < 8.5 ms random read seek time. DiscWizard software allows you to copy data from the old hard drive to the new one and supports installation of the operating system to the new drive.

Furthermore, the Disc Wizard can be used to format and partition a new drive for additional storage. Equipped with fluid dynamic bearing motor, the Barracuda internal hard drive offers silent operation. The Self-Monitoring, Analysis and Reporting Technology (S.M.A.R.T) detects and reports hard drive failure. In addition, the hard drive is compatible with Windows, Mac and Linux-based systems.
