About Sigma 18-125mm

The Sigma 18-125mm F3.8-5.6 DC OS HSM is a high ratio zoom lens which is designed exclusively for digital SLR cameras

offers the use of shutter speeds approximately 4 stops slower.

It is the ideal lens for several type of photography such as wide-angle, telephoto and close-up. SLD (Special Low Dispersion) glass, a molded glass aspherical lens and two hybrid aspherical lenses provide excellent correction for all types of aberrations. The super multi-layer coating reduces flare and ghosting. High image quality is assured throughout the entire zoom range.

This lens has a minimum focusing distance of 35cm (13.8") at all focal lengths, and has maximum magnification of 1:3.8, making it ideal for close-up photography. This lens incorporates HSM (Hyper Sonic Motor), which ensures a quiet and high-speed autofocus.

The Sigma 18-125mm is commonly used for Landscape/scenery, Weddings and more. One reason why the Sigma 18-125mm is popular is because of its Fast / accurate auto-focus

All around Use

Excellent for all around use. The wide angle allows pictures of groups or indoor photos. The motor is quiet and adjusts from wide to telephoto quickly but smoothly. This lense plus my 70mm to 300mm lens covers 95% of my needs. Unless I get into specific photographic needs like macros or potraite requirements.

Ideal for every day use

By

I use this on my Pentax K10, lens is ideal for everyday use, especially indoors where sometimes you need a wide angle lens, and then go outside where you might need a long zoom lens. It is not weather resistant like the Pentax DA lenses are.

good travle lens

By

This is a good lens to travel with because of it's zoom range. Super quite focus. It's also good as an event lens, like birthday party's, weddings etc. Seems a little heavy for the size.

Good lens but HEAVY

By

I bought this lens used at Adorama.[...]. The lens is ok, but really HEAVY and just so/so image quality, especially at the edges. I would recommend it though.

Nice Lens at a Great Price

By

This lens is much better than the canon consumer lenses in my opinion. It may have a slight front focusing issue and if it does I'll send it back to sigma for an adjustment or use it as an excuse to upgrade to the 50D with micro adjustment instead of sending it back to the retailer so everyone else can take the time and expense of correcting a common problem with most lenses.

Questions about this item:

Shopper  Will the Sigma 18mm-125mm f/3.8-5.6 DC lens function properly if used on my Pentax *istD? I know it will fit the mount ok but I want to make sure I can use autofocus and that there are no areas of photos cut off. Steve-Seattle
LINDA T  Yes
Shopper  I assume Sigma 18mm - 125mm f/3.8-5.6 DC lens has SDM internal DC focus motor. Will it also use gear drive focus from camera body from older DSLR (Pentax *istD)? Steve-Seattle
Andrew R  Unfortunately no. This lens will mount, but it will need to be used as a manual focus lens.
