The Sigma 19mm f/2.8 DN ART Lens for Micro Four Thirds Cameras (Silver) is a wide-angle prime lens for Micro Four Thirds cameras. Its 35mm focal length equivalency is 38mm and its minimum focus distance is 7.9" (20 cm). Its f/2.8 maximum aperture is ideal for shallow depth of field imaging and allows it to maintain sharpness in low light situations. An inner focusing system means the lens does not extend when focusing and its newly developed linear autofocus motor is accurate and quiet.
Sigma's Super Multi-Layer Coating reduces flare and ghosting and provides sharp and high contrast images even at the maximum aperture and with three glass molded aspherical elements, aberrations are kept to a minimum. The result is accurate color definition and sharp imaging across the frame.

The 19mm on a micro four thirds is about 38mm field of view in 35mm terms. Similar to the 35 lens I used on my Leica back in the film days. A great lens for most purposes. This lens focuses close, real close. Works fine and takes great images. The smooth focus ring is strange but since I don't use it much it is a non issue. Overall it is a nice handy unit.
I've gotten this lens for a few of my mirrorless cameras. It works consistently well across several platforms.
I wanted a prime at a good general-purpose focal length. It was between this and the panasonic 20mm f1.7, but the latter cost much more. I saw the Sigma used here at Adorama and got it. Very pleased with the service and product. The lens arrived a couple days early and is in excellent condition. Not sure the image quality is that much better than my kit zoom, at 19mm, but maybe a little.
