About SLR Magic 35mm T 0.95

The SLR Magic 35mm T0.95 Hyperprime II Cine Lens is a super fast prime lens for photography and cinematography. One of the World's fastest production lenses it features a T0.95 aperture for amazing low light potential, along with offering superb bokeh and character for artistic and dreamy shots. Shooting near or wide open the lens renders images and video with extreme shallow depth of field for adreamy and unique character. The decoupled aperture and smooth focus allows seemless transition of exposure and focus in video and movie making.

Fantastic IF you get a good copy

Optically the lens is fantastic! It is quite heavy and large, but the quality is there. The aperture ring was incredibly smooth too. Now the bad part was that the focus ring was too stiff! I actually went through 3 copies of this lens (Adorama was great throughout this whole process). The quality control of SLR Magic is just poor, with the lens even showing very minor problems (not 100% new condition) - faded lettering, scratches etc. even though it's supposed to be new. With my first 2 copies, the lens was too stiff (it would jump, think about a cheap tripod vs. a fluid head) to make fine adjustments in focus. Then my last copy you could actually make fine adjustments, but the focus ring was incredibly hard to turn! What I found funny was that the aperture ring in all 3 of my copies were perfect and incredibly smooth. You generally expect better when paying +$1k for a lens, so ultimately I just gave up on the lens and returned it altogether.
