The Softron Pro Option for MovieRecorder PCI 1.2 / 2.0 is an add-on for versions 1.2 and 2.0 of Softron's MovieRecorder PCI software. It gives you the ability to perform Batch Captures and looped recording, supports metadata and enables the creation of proxy files (on version 2.0 only).
Batch Capture via RS422 Sony Protocol is enabled to control VTR. Unlike manual capture, where you simply play your tape and push the start button when you wish to begin capturing, Batch Capture is a highly controlled process. You can type in start and end timecode values numerically and decide exactly what will be captured. This is a good option if you've logged your tape and chosen which clips to capture offline and don't want to capture everything on the tape. Export or import Batch Captures as XML for third party integration.
The Pro option also features looped recording, meaning the software records permanently on the same file and returns to the beginning once it reaches the end of the file; this could allow for TimeShifting playout, for example.
Get real-time live logging using customizable metadata fields and logging templates for both QuickTime and Final Cut Pro. Metadata, or data about data, helps you find what you're looking for and get organized. Storing the maximum possible metadata tags within a video ensures that metadata always remains associated with the image - so you will never have to manually enter it again, even if you change video editing software, archive your movies, or share copies. Precise, comprehensive metadata assists you and other users in successfully searching and categorizing your media. The metadata is recorded in the QuickTime file to be used by Media Asset Management.
Now, in MovieRecorder PCI 2.0, you can perform edit-while-ingest on multiple destinations for redundancy, while also generating a proxy file at the same time in MP4 or Apple ProRes. The ProRes codec must be installed separately. The proxy file is also edit-while-ingest.
