HOAG L  It will work well with a PD-170 and other video cameras, both HD and standard. It is a lavalier mic that pins to the shirt, so it's designed to be used at close range. It produces really high quality sound.

DAVID B  This is wireless if you plug a wireless transmitter into it. The microphone is intended to be wired, using a 3pin XLR cable, into camera mic input or other recording device.
