Great Mic; wish it took AA, not AAA

This Mic is digital, unlike many of its VHF/UHF competitors. It uses pre-paired Bluetooth technology, and I've used it with the mic and receiver placed across a room from each other and it worked fine. There is no static, unlike an analog mic. It uses only 1 AAA battery in each of the receiver and transmitter. I really wish it used AA instead, as it would provide much more power with very little difference in weight. But it's good for at least 1 hour, probably closer to 1.5, on a fully-charged Eneloop. Both Mic and receiver have a blue LED, which blinks if the units can't communicate. I wish there were a low-battery warning first, rather than noticing only afterwards when the light blinks that your cam has been recording dead silence since the mic battery ran out. Since this is a Sony, you get a quality product, some nice accessories, like 2 sets of mono earbuds to hear what the mic is producing (works in both units, mic and receiver) and an arm-band and carry-bag. For short events, or when you can easily replace the batteries at breaks between segments, I like this mic. But if you need 3 hours at once with no touching the mic, this is not for you.

Work perfectly

Very happy with performance. Main problem is battery life. We use these for production of safety training videos and they work perfectly.

Great piece; Clear sound; BT Radio

I used this at a recent event. I made the mistake of not using Eneloops or some other quality rechargeable, and the MIC quit mid-event, about 45 minutes (recording time) in.Sony sells a 2-AAA version that only works with their own cams; as I have a different brand, this was my only option. I only wish Sony made a 2-AAA option for other cams (like mine), too.It is actually a pleasure to use, as it clips to the handstrap and plugs into the Mic jack. As it is a mono mic and my cam's jack is stereo, you will want the necessary adapter to go with it. If Adorama doesn't sell it then a [...] should have it.The audio is much better than using the built-in mic, though if you're relatively close to the subject then the cam's built-in 5.1 mic is more than adequate.Bluetooth is a great choice of wireless technology, unlike the old VHF or (old and expensive) UHF; BT worked for me, with no static nor dropouts.
