Overall a very good camcorder and decent projector but giving low score due to below points: 1. indoor movies are grainy even at decent indoor lights 2. gives MTS file HD video...cannot see it in my TV via Apple TV....should support mutile formats 3. Battery sucks, it has projector so should have high mAH battery...operation is only 2 hours ..if you use projector then it hardly last for few minutes. Projector will be used when you are outside or travelling and you dont have power source..and it last for 20 to 30 mins as its eat but energy fast.....useless. With power source at home u will use your big TV not projector.
This is simply one of the most amazing devices I've ever used! This easy-to-use video camera records in 60p (not 60i of cheaper models) which is double the normal frame rate of 30 fps NTSC (USA). Records to AVCHD in a single file. It easily fits in my front pocket of my shorts. The movie screen projector is really much better than I could have imagined coming from such a small device. All friends, everyone, is totally amazed at that, as am I! Built-in GPS shows maps and shows where your videos and photos were taken in the real world. Best controlled by the included, refined IR Remote Controller, which can zoom, record, pause, playback, photos, arrow keys, and more. Another selling point for me is the 5.1 Dolby Digital microphones embedded in various spots on the camera, with two microphones for the rear speakers are directly under the 3" LCD Touch-Screen for you to narrate, with stereo mics shooting front. With an internal 16GB of empty storage space, you also can add more memory with an SDHC memory card. It has amazing anti-shake functions that work very well. Battery included runs around 2 hours, perhaps just shy of that. On the highest possible quality setting while using the internal 16 GB of memory, you may get about 1 hour and 2 minutes of recording. I'll record in nothing less. When a bird flies by my video recording I play it back frame-by-frame. Upon playback, I can study how the wings are reacting with the wind and flapping, and see it made 5 strokes(?) past my shot, right in front of me. It is amazingly cool. Plus, an actual USB cord is permanently attached to the camera, so you will always be able to connect it to any standard USB port for not only media transfer, but this will even charge your battery! It just takes a little longer, but you can easily charge your battery by simply connecting it to any USB port that is powered. Always plug directly in to the computer USB port, and not after a USB hub that splits the signals leaving inadequate power to charge. Includes extra USB extension cable for easy USB connections. Also a mini-USB port, as well as a mini-HDMI out port as well which will connect directly to your HD 5.1 surround sound audio video system. Many internal options for precise control of the whole camera system. Plus, the camera lens cover automatically opens and closes as you need it. Never worry about your lens cover again! A few drawbacks, the unit is super small, so small that my male hands of a 6 foot 210 lbs person, barely is able to get my hand through the holding spot and be able to fasten the velcro strap. This is really a bad design for bigger hands. It's just barely connected and worries me. The video record button should be on the left side of the camera, not the right as it is just not a natural place for your thumb. My thumb rests on the left of the battery, not the right. Oh and forget about indoor still photos as it is just incredibly poor. I won't even get in to it. Outside daylight photos are decent, but still have a little camera-phone type of result to the photos. It is 8.9 megapixels. One note about AVCHD video cameras is that importing and playback are more challenging than in the past. You need appropriate software on your computer. A positive note is that you can burn directly to a DVD burner and burn a disc without a computer or anything else. You can even attach it directly to an external HDD as well! And with swappable memory, you can always replace with more memory while on a vacation / holiday, or whatever you desire. Anyways, remember that the video is out of this world amazing! So small, so lightweight, just so incredible! I was very much delighted about this purchase. I returned two lower grade Sony camcorders until I found this one in particular. It has everything I could want (well, almost, the more fps the better) but I don't have money to buy broadcast type equipment in the thousands of dollars, unfortunately. So this really is a great video camera, and just watch out, don't be tricked in to buying a 60i camcorder as the interlacing is horrible and totally unacceptable. But you can lower the quality to this 60i (interlaced) recording instead of the max quality of 60p (progressive fps). Nevertheless, I basically NEED a bigger hand strap and would gladly purchase one if it exists, I haven't researched this yet. I had another similar looking Sony Webbie camcorder and it has an internal sealed battery. How with this Sony Projector HDR-PJ260V has external batteries so you can take as many as you want for backup, which is a huge bonus. Anyways, if you want great things, for the price, this is an amazing product to say the least! Thank you Sony!
