Sony HDR-PJ275 Features

  • Create cinematic video in high definition 1920 x 1080 60p and high quality 9.2MP still images. Experience stunning low-light sensitivity with improved image clarity and drastically reduced grain with Sony's back-illuminated Exmor R CMOS sensor.
  • Designed for compact cameras and camcorders, the Exmor R CMOS sensor relocates the photo diodes above the support circuitry, maximizing the light gathering area per pixel so you can shoot with better results in lower lighting conditions.
  • Enjoy your favorite memories virtually anywhere with the high-contrast 13 lumen projector built-in to the LCD panel. The HDMI multi-terminal allows you to connect external devices that have an HDMI output and use the camcorder's projector to enjoy other forms of entertainment
  • Built-in Wi-Fi/NFC makes for easy one touch connection to compatible mobile devices.
  • From the authority in lens technology, the Carl Zeiss Vario-Sonnar T lens provides a high quality 29.8mm wide angle so you can get everything you want in the shot.
  • Get amazingly close with 27x optical zoom plus 54x Clear Image digital zoom. Most digital zooms use electronic cropping to get closer to the subject, resulting in unsharp images.
  • With Clear Image Zoom the powerful processor compares patterns found in adjacent pixels and creates new pixels to match selected patterns, resulting in more realistic, higher-quality images. Clear Image Zoom doubles optical zoom for closer photos and video.
  • The 2.7" (16:9) Clear Photo LCD (230K) displays sharp, bright, vivid images, letting you compose a shot more easily.
  • SteadyShot image stabilization with Active Mode compensates for greater degrees of camera shake to deliver stunningly smooth video from wide angle to full telephoto shooting. In addition, innovative 3-Way Shake-Canceling adds electronic roll stability for even smoother video capture
  • The built-in 8GB embedded Flash memory can record and store up XX hours XX minutes of high definition video footage (HD LP mode).
  • Picture Effects add a new level of expression and creativity to video and photos. Seven picture effects (Toy Camera, Pop Color, Soft High Key, Partial Color, Retro Photo, High Contrast Monochrome and Posterization) are available in both photo and video modes.
  • Record HD video in the AVCHD and MP4 formats for highest quality or easy transfer & sharing. AVCHD provides premium video that can be enjoyed on large screen HDTVs & is ideal for capturing precious memories at special occasions, family vacations and other moments you want to treasure for a lifetime

Decent Camcorder

from Nevada  -  Video Enthusiast

I got this camcorder specifically for a Air-Show event. That's because I wanted to do hybrid video with photos and video. Also, I needed a zoom for video and a DSLR would not be as stable. It is a great little camcorder with a projector. I like the manual exposure modes, and manual focus and WB. And the zoom with stabilization is amazing. Tracking targets is not a problem. Also, the video codec and format is easy to work with in post processing. And it uses the same battery as my Sony HDR-AS100v action cam. The battery life is good, video quality at 60p is good. And, the onboard mic sound quality is pretty good. The downers of this camera are: no 30p no 24p at 1080HD, only 60i and 60p. Also, the snapshot image quality is not that great if you use it for 1920x1080HD. Also, the startup time is long, about 8-12 seconds. So having it on and in stand by mode is essential at event shooting. Some will fault it for not having a external mic input, but this is not the type of camcorder to build a system on. It's a consumer camcorder for the masses. Overall, you could spend thousands for a super zoom lens for your DSLR to shoot air-shows. or you could spend thousands for a heavy full function pro camcorder. But if you only do personal production, this is a great camera. And, having a decent budget camcorder with great tracking and stabilization can add a lot more content to your photo/video production than just a still photo.
