I've had mine for 4 years and it still works great! I'm even surprised the battery still holds a good charge after months of not using it... But, Like most baby monitors this one is prone to feedback - but the key is distance and direction. Most people who complain about feedback don't take the time to set it up properly (where the units are almost facing each other, LOL). I have found that it requires a bit of adjustments to find the sweet spot where you don't get feedback in a small house. You also will need to take time to set up the best channel (frequency) for the city / town you live in, but the three color option is one of the simplest I've seen on the market. After a few days of trying different combinations of colors i found one that got almost no interference. The unit is very durable it has lasted years of drops and neglect. I'm suprised it still works as good as it does. The only negative thing i can say about it is that the volume level on the receiver is super sensitive... so i leave my unit turned almost all the way down and on Voice Activate - I can even leave music playing in my daughters room and eventually the music will fade out but reception returns when she makes noise / the song changes

I got this at my baby shower and have used it non-stop for over 20 months now. It picks up every little sound even the trains outside. There does seem to be a lot of interference but when it gets really bad I switch the channel and it eliminates most of it. When they say water resistant they mean it I accidentally dropped it in the washing machine and it was completely submerged, I took it out opened the battery case dried everything off and it never stopped working and is still going strong. The only complaint I really have is the volume, I cannot turn it past the second mark on the dial or it will split your eardrums when your baby cries, not sure why they allow you to turn it up so loud.

All these reviews on the static is the same thing that I am going through. Every 10 seconds you hear a static thumb. Do not buy this waste of money and you wont get no sleep!!!

I really wish I'd read these reviews before purchasing this monitor. We've only used it for a couple of nights and the darn range alarm beeps all the time for no reason. Our house is only 1300 sq feet and my daughter's room is right across the hall. Whenever I move... turn over, get up, anything the thing beeps... even when I don't move. This causes more loss of sleep than baby causes. Definitely dissatisfied... but like many others, I've thrown away the box and receipt. Not what expected from Sony.

this monitor has caused more lost hours of sleep than my baby has. Don't recommend at all.

I have issues with the "range alarm". My kids rooms are right down the hall from mine and the alarm goes off constantly at random times of the night. Then when in the living room, that is directly under my sons room, we have the same issue. So annoying!

This monitor worked fine for the first couple of weeks that I used it. I wouldn't say it was crystal clear, but at least I could hear my kiddo when she was sleeping in her room. But there was always some interference and cracking noises which could be somewhat alleviated if I turned the sound way down. Who knows what that was from. Anyway, the thing stopped working after a few weeks of gentle use. All I hear now is static. I've tried every channel and no luck. Waste of money if you ask me...

Used this a handful of times (<10) with my first baby - and it worked alright as I remember. Two years later I pulled it out to use with my second child, and it doesn't work at all.

I received this product at my baby shower and have been using it for 4 months now. We have had problems with it since the very beginning... First of all, the screeching, popping, beeping sounds are terrible! They happen all the time, and almost every night before myself and my husband go to sleep (or right after we fall asleep) there is this extremely loud static screech sound which pretty much wakes up the whole house. A few times in the middle of the night my baby will be crying (for who knows how long) and I will wake up and happen to look over at the monitor and the lights are lighting up but no sound is coming out! That makes me so mad, I got a monitor because I want to be able to hear my baby if he cries in the middle of the night!! I threw away the box a while ago so I guess I can't return it, but I HATE this monitor!!!!!

constant CRACKLE and POP sound on receiver. Sony will not replace or repair since we purchased on Amazon. A total waste of money!!

Bought this originally to monitor my inlaws when they moved in with us. Now is used for my grandchildren. Works great and love the voice activation mode. My only complaint is that it can trigger out of range warnings caused by other electronics - like a cordless phone. I must move my cordless off my nightstand when I place the monitor there. But now that i know the cause, its no big deal. Would definitely buy a newer model if they release one that is digital and does not have these issues.

We can't even sleep because the stupid monitor cracks a loud noise all the time. We are less than 20 feet from our sons room. It is 10x worst when it is not plugged into a power source. The battery went bad after 1-2 months and we sent it back. 3 months later we got a new battery in the mail. Worst decision to buy this!

I've been having the same range alarm issues as several other people now that I am looking at reviews. When I registered for the product, I went off the recommendation of my SIL who has the same one and raved about it. She has not had the same issues I have, obviously. There have been a couple instances where it has woken me up in the middle of the night, gone off when I turn my microwave on (what year is it? I shouldn't have those problems), or for no apparent reason. My son is in the bedroom next to ours, so I know it's not out of range.

I wish I would have kept the box and receipt so I could return this and get a better one. The stupid Range Alarm ALWAYS goes off. My bedroom is right next to my daughters yet I NEVER hear her through the alarm going off ALL the time. I hate this monitor with a very passionate hate. After this I will NEVER buy from Sony again. I am at my wits end. I want my money back so I can purchase new monitors.

This is one of the best baby monitors i have i have ever seen or heard. I am a Grandfather and a gadget man. In my opinion for the price and the sheer clarity this is one of the best baby monitors i have ever listen to. I can hear EVERYTHING going on in the room. Volume control is perfect. I have a lot going on in my house with electronics and with the family room downstairs and his room upstairs at the other end of the house i can't believe how well it sounds. Its almost like i'm in the room with him. It has a noise meter to let you know the volume intensity of what is going on in the room. Did i mention the clarity with NO static or noise what so ever. A MUST HAVE!

I love that this monitor has a voice activation feature. It is very convenient and saves battery when it's not plugged in. However, it's not reliable! Our baby is 8 months old and for the past probably 3 or 4 months, we've had a problem. When in voice activated mode, if the volume is set at less than half, no sound will come out. The lights still light up, but that doesn't do much good when I'm sleeping! I feel guilty because a couple of times I have woken up to him screaming and the lights on the monitor lit up but no sound! I don't know how long he had been awake for but thankfully he doesn't seem to hold it against me!

I've been using this monitor for almost 9 months now for my son and I must say, it works quite well. I was impressed with the price, compared to some of the other monitors available these days. It doesn't have all the bells and whistles (or video) that other baby monitors have but it allows you to leave your baby in one room and go about your business. Mine has worked great, without fail, only one complaint as of recently and that is that the "Voice Activated" feature no longer works. It always has that static-y background noise (which by the way is a great feature). I miss the constant silence unless my son needs me, but all-in-all, I would recommend this product.

I purchased this monitor for my second child as we gave our first one away. After reading many reviews I settled on purchasing this model. My son is only 4 days old so I just started using it. I like that it has a voice activation choice instead of just an on button. With a 3 year old I don't want to hear everything through the monitor. It does pick up the baby great during the day and night. The only down fall is that the Range Alarm keeps going off. We have tried different channels and it still goes off. Very annoying at night when you are trying to get what little sleep you can or during the day when you are going about things in the house. My house is less than 1400sq ft. so I know we are not out of range. I would take it back to Target if I could, but the reciept and box were thrown away.
