The 16GB Galaxy Note 10.1" Tablet from Samsung improves on the design of its predecessor. The chrome bezel has been removed to give the Galaxy Note 10.1 a more streamlined look. The removal of the chrome bezel also makes the Galaxy Note 10.1 narrower and slimmer. The glossy plastic back from the previous Galaxy Note has also been replaced with the polycarbonate "leather-like" texture, similar to the back cover of the Samsung Galaxy Note 3 smartphone. While the glossy plastic back of the previous version was a fingerprint magnet, the polycarbonate back of the Galaxy Note 10.1 not only masks fingerprints, but also provides a more reliable grip when holding it.
The most notable improvement of the Galaxy Note 10.1 2014 edition is the screen. Samsung managed to squeeze a 2560 x 1600 native resolution into the 10.1" screen of the Galaxy Note. That's 299 pixels per inch (ppi), which results in sharper text and vibrant colors. The WQXGA TFT screen with a 16:10 aspect ratio isn't just for show either. It's also a capacitive touchscreen that supports multi-touch gestures incorporated into Android.
Samsung also improved the S-Pen functionality. The S-Pen now has metal ridges that make it easier to pull it out of its slot on the Galaxy Note 10.1. When you remove the S-Pen from its holster, the Galaxy Note 10.1 will detect it and pull up an Air Command menu. Borrowing from the S-Pen improvements found on the Samsung Galaxy Note 3 smartphone, the S-Pen can now use Air View, which allows you to hover over images or words and even click a button on the S-Pen to access a menu for additional options. This expands on the S-Pen's functionality and usefulness.
The Galaxy Note 10.1 also comes with Android 4.3 Jelly Bean operating system installed. However, the Android 4.3 Jelly Bean operating system is customized by Samsung, adding their TouchWiz software to it. While this means that the icons, notifications and app menus may differ from the original Android 4.3 Jelly Bean operating system, Samsung's version also adds a full suite of Samsung exclusive features, such as S Voice, Samsung's App Store, S Translator and more. My Magazine, a collaboration between Flipboard and Samsung, aggregates your social media networks, news outlets and entertainment interests into one easy-to-use interface. Simply swipe up from the bottom of the home screen to access it.
The system is powered by an Exynos 5420 octa-core chipset. The Exynos 5420 octa-core chipset is actually comprised of dual quad-core processors, which are the 1.9GHz Cortex-A15 quad-core processor and the 1.3GHz Cortex-A7 quad-core processor. The 1.9GHz Cortex-A15 is used for CPU-intensive apps while the 1.3GHz Cortex-A7 kicks in for casual use, such as checking email or web surfing. Unfortunately, both processors can't be used at the same time. The Galaxy Note 10.1 also has 3GB of RAM, 16GB of flash storage, 802.11a/b/g/n/ac Wi-Fi support, Bluetooth 4.0 connectivity, a 2.0-megapixel front camera, an 8.0-megapixel rear camera and a micro-USB 2.0 port that also doubles as a universal charging port.
The Samsung Galaxy Note 2 is popular because customers like the following qualities of the Samsung Galaxy Note 2: Bright display, Built-in speakers, Durable, Inexpensive, Lightweight, Realistic color, S pen and Stylus

I have been waiting for a long time to buy a tablet and I have been researching this one since its announcement and comparing it with the new Surface 2, and I have to say that I am really happy i chose Samsung, the only 2 reasons I did not gave the tablet all 5 stars, 1.- It is pricy for a college student and having no student discount or anything to make it more student accessible, and 2.- no USB ports at all, it is nice that the memory is expandable and all but I still have to go to my comp...View full Review

lags a lot
This tablet lags and freezes a lot. Loved how it has the multi window feature although would have been great if could drag the windows instead of split screen. It charges slow and the battery is gone fast. Legit needs an update. If i could change this device i would in a heartbeat.

Ever since i got this i have everything i need at my fingertips. Works has never been easier since i got my tablet. If only the battery lasted longer but its all good
I received this tablet from my family as a Mother's Day gift, so I am still exploring all of the features. I have wanted a tablet for some time, so I've done quite a bit of research, and the Samsung Galaxy Note 10.1 (2014 edition) seemed perfect-so far, so good! The visual (resolution) is terrific, and I love how easy it is to navigate. While I'm still exploring using the S pen, I feel that will also be a great feature. So at this time, I'd have to say, so far, so good!
After two years, I must say this device has not lived up to my expectations. I had to send it back to the company after it stopped working completely within the first few months... At least it was still under factory warranty. I was sold on Samsung because of the ability to add storage. My device does not even recognize a Samsung micro card??? Also I've found that the synchronization is challenging at best and obsolete at worst: between our three Samsung devices themselves, nor with the Samsung Link, Samsung Kies (think itunes) app, and basic common applications. The inability of Samsung to maintain their advertised program: a Samsung Hub promising music, reading, gaming, and media resources with easy accessibility is also a major disappointment. Overall, I wish I had gone American made...
I love my Samsung tablet. It has everything I was looking for. I can even draw on it. When I found out it had a art feature on it I didn't want anything other tablet. I have Samsung Galaxy phone and I love it. I will buy Samsung products for life.
Its been an excellent product it been great to use and I'm still learning features of the Note Tablet its been a worthwhile investment and will upgrade later this year
I've been using this tablet since sophomore year in high school and I am now moving into my freshman year of college and I will still be using this tablet because a Bluetooth keyboard and a good not taking app like Evernote this device can easily replace a laptop and a computer. It's the perfect size and super portable of coruse, and writing on the screen with the S pen is like writing on paper which is the main reason I chose this over the ipad.
the default launcher is a little laggy, but once i got nova, everything started to work smoothly! I love the stylus
Samsung galaxy note 10.1 is a great product with excellent performance. All features perform excellent.
This is my second Samsung Note 10.1 tablet. I loved my original so much I bought the 2014 edition. At first it was amazing - and in all but one way it still is. However, it has no battery life worth touting. Normal use (no games, videos, etc) is about 2 hours. In total. On a good day. It I s very disappointing, especially since I paid full price. I cannot recommend the Note 2014 but my Samsung Note phones over the years have been reliable and fun. On I do love Samsung products. I own Samsung appliances, TV, phones, laptops, and tablets.
I think this is a great notebook . Everything is perfect but there is one little problem with the charger cable, which is really too short. I hope they will improve on this to make it longer .
