The 16GB Galaxy Note 10.1" Tablet from Samsung improves on the design of its predecessor. The chrome bezel has been removed to give the Galaxy Note 10.1 a more streamlined look. The removal of the chrome bezel also makes the Galaxy Note 10.1 narrower and slimmer. The glossy plastic back from the previous Galaxy Note has also been replaced with the polycarbonate "leather-like" texture, similar to the back cover of the Samsung Galaxy Note 3 smartphone. While the glossy plastic back of the previous version was a fingerprint magnet, the polycarbonate back of the Galaxy Note 10.1 not only masks fingerprints, but also provides a more reliable grip when holding it.
The most notable improvement of the Galaxy Note 10.1 2014 edition is the screen. Samsung managed to squeeze a 2560 x 1600 native resolution into the 10.1" screen of the Galaxy Note. That's 299 pixels per inch (ppi), which results in sharper text and vibrant colors. The WQXGA TFT screen with a 16:10 aspect ratio isn't just for show either. It's also a capacitive touchscreen that supports multi-touch gestures incorporated into Android.
Samsung also improved the S-Pen functionality. The S-Pen now has metal ridges that make it easier to pull it out of its slot on the Galaxy Note 10.1. When you remove the S-Pen from its holster, the Galaxy Note 10.1 will detect it and pull up an Air Command menu. Borrowing from the S-Pen improvements found on the Samsung Galaxy Note 3 smartphone, the S-Pen can now use Air View, which allows you to hover over images or words and even click a button on the S-Pen to access a menu for additional options. This expands on the S-Pen's functionality and usefulness.
The Galaxy Note 10.1 also comes with Android 4.3 Jelly Bean operating system installed. However, the Android 4.3 Jelly Bean operating system is customized by Samsung, adding their TouchWiz software to it. While this means that the icons, notifications and app menus may differ from the original Android 4.3 Jelly Bean operating system, Samsung's version also adds a full suite of Samsung exclusive features, such as S Voice, Samsung's App Store, S Translator and more. My Magazine, a collaboration between Flipboard and Samsung, aggregates your social media networks, news outlets and entertainment interests into one easy-to-use interface. Simply swipe up from the bottom of the home screen to access it.
The system is powered by an Exynos 5420 octa-core chipset. The Exynos 5420 octa-core chipset is actually comprised of dual quad-core processors, which are the 1.9GHz Cortex-A15 quad-core processor and the 1.3GHz Cortex-A7 quad-core processor. The 1.9GHz Cortex-A15 is used for CPU-intensive apps while the 1.3GHz Cortex-A7 kicks in for casual use, such as checking email or web surfing. Unfortunately, both processors can't be used at the same time. The Galaxy Note 10.1 also has 3GB of RAM, 16GB of flash storage, 802.11a/b/g/n/ac Wi-Fi support, Bluetooth 4.0 connectivity, a 2.0-megapixel front camera, an 8.0-megapixel rear camera and a micro-USB 2.0 port that also doubles as a universal charging port.
The Samsung Galaxy Note 2 is popular because customers like the following qualities of the Samsung Galaxy Note 2: Bright display, Built-in speakers, Durable, Inexpensive, Lightweight, Realistic color, S pen and Stylus

I have been waiting for a long time to buy a tablet and I have been researching this one since its announcement and comparing it with the new Surface 2, and I have to say that I am really happy i chose Samsung, the only 2 reasons I did not gave the tablet all 5 stars, 1.- It is pricy for a college student and having no student discount or anything to make it more student accessible, and 2.- no USB ports at all, it is nice that the memory is expandable and all but I still have to go to my comp...View full Review

lags a lot
This tablet lags and freezes a lot. Loved how it has the multi window feature although would have been great if could drag the windows instead of split screen. It charges slow and the battery is gone fast. Legit needs an update. If i could change this device i would in a heartbeat.

the default launcher is a little laggy, but once i got nova, everything started to work smoothly! I love the stylus
Samsung galaxy note 10.1 is a great product with excellent performance. All features perform excellent.
This is my second Samsung Note 10.1 tablet. I loved my original so much I bought the 2014 edition. At first it was amazing - and in all but one way it still is. However, it has no battery life worth touting. Normal use (no games, videos, etc) is about 2 hours. In total. On a good day. It I s very disappointing, especially since I paid full price. I cannot recommend the Note 2014 but my Samsung Note phones over the years have been reliable and fun. On I do love Samsung products. I own Samsung appliances, TV, phones, laptops, and tablets.
I think this is a great notebook . Everything is perfect but there is one little problem with the charger cable, which is really too short. I hope they will improve on this to make it longer .
This is by far one of the best tablets I have owed it's extremely fast and reliable even after a year of solid every day all day use
I am a Junior Mechanical Engineer Student at Michigan State University and I've owned this tablet for almost a year now and i really like this tablet. I prefer android over apple only because i think apple products are over priced and this tablets writing functions far exceeds apple's ability for taking notes on a tablet. The battery life on this tablet is great if your only using it for taking notes at school, if you like to watch videos between class the battery will get drained rather quickly but i can make it through an 8 hour day at school taking notes easy on one full charge. I bought this tablet with the full intention to completely get rid of using paper and pencil for taking notes, and this is where the however comes into play, the pre-loaded apps on this were not quick enough for me. Teachers talk fast and Samsungs "S Note" app takes to long to go to the next page of notes. It also only allows for a landscape style writing surface, so when you turn the tablet so its longest side is vertical you only have about half the screen to write on. Evernote is the best app i found for writing notes but I have seen much better note taking programs on my professors Toshiba lap tops. In class they will write problems out on this laptop with a version of the s pen and projects it onto a screen for the class to see and its clearly a much faster program and functions flawlessly. Yes i understand that this is a laptop I'm talking about but there has to be a way to take get that kind of note taking app onto this Samsung tablet. I also wish the the S Pen had an eraser built into it so i wouldn't have to stop writing to switch the function of the S Pen to an eraser. To sum it up this tablet has great potential for students to take electronic notes but the speed of taking notes needs to improve and a better free app needs to be out on the market before i could switch over to only taking notes on this. Love the display and to me this was the best tablet on the market last year. I'm not familiar with whats on the market right now so i cant say how great it is compared to recent releases of other tablets. Also its worth mentioning that the video player has issues on this tablet, will some times play video with out sound or there will be a glitch every few seconds in the video and audio. If this happens you have to restart the tablet. This doesn't happen very often any more but its still there.
The ability to take it everywhere is convenient. I now can take a an acutal computer around instead pf my laptop. It has literally taken weight off my shoulders.
It has a short battery life but other than that it's great
One of the best features is the S-note app, it fits best this product, I thought that after buying my note 4 phone I will not use my note 10.1 however the snote app is perfect and fits best the note tablet, I can write down note using the pen, record audio on the page for explanations, take pictures from the board or the book on the snote page!
I like all the free apps available and particularity the camera feature. It is easy to learjn how to navigate and it even has a google app using voice search.
