First one fell off my kayak. The steiner float strap made it sink proof, but the right lens fogged up. ( and it didnt get more than a foot below the surface) The gang at Adorama made good and sent me another ASAP!

I used these to watch football at the stadium. The optics are really excellent. Focus is sharp across the entire field of view, and the coating improves contrast without being obnoxious. They're fairly light and very comfortable to hold. The objective lens caps are well designed not to snag on things. When uncapped they hang down out of the way, tethered to the center axle by short rubber straps. They're easy to remove entirely if you prefer. These aren't waterproof. When immersed in a bowl of tap water, some water got in one side and fogged the prisms. I exchanged one pair, tried a replacement and saw the same result. Steiner's USA service center recommended another model, the 7x30 Commander XP which is rated waterproof to a depth of 10m, but I haven't tested that.

The compact 8 x 30 Navigator is also the most versatile. Designed like the bigger 7 x 50s, the 8 x 30 Navigator has been adopted for use as a smaller viewing or "back-up" companion. Its compact design and light weight make it suitable for any use. It fits easily in a coat pocket and features Steiner's Sports Auto-Focus. The 8 x 30 Navigator offers Steiner's brilliant new "anti-haze" optics for day time and low light performance. Even if you prefer larger 7 x 50s, or units with an integral compass, you'll want to consider the new Navigator 8 x 30 as the perfect second binocular. 10-year limited warranty.
