About Manfrotto MBSM390-5BB

The Black Stile Collection Unica V Messenger Bag from Manfrotto is the kind of quality bag you'll want with you whether on a day trip to the country or international airline journey. On the surface, this bag may appear to be just a garden variety shoulder tote but once examined, you find that it has many features that make it a stand-out among such bags. Let's take a closer look at what the Unica 5 offers. The main compartment is 15.7" (39.9cm) tall and holds a DSLR with a mounted lens in shooting position.

In addition, you can also bring along an extra lens, flash, various accessories plus a 17" (43.2cm) Apple laptop or a 15.4" standard laptop - all this in a bag that weighs a mere 2.2 lb (1.0kg). The organizer pocket stores your iPhone, MP3 player, map, pens, computer support cables, batteries, memory cards and sunglasses. That's quite a bundle of gear for a bag. And, it's all organized by a system of padded, movable dividers that can be arranged to suit your needs. But it doesn't stop there. Sooner or later, every photographer uses a tripod and this bag will allow to you to store a Manfrotto pocket tripod inside its own space. Now you can get those night or long exposure shots. As mentioned, you can take the Unica 5 Messenger Bag on a plane as it meets current carry-on standards. What a relief - your gear never leaves your sight.

There are times when you need instant access to your equipment. You can reach the contents by two methods. First, the main compartment has a rear zipper that is used to quickly get your laptop out for airport security checkpoints. Or, if you prefer, use the quick-release compression clasp to open and close the protective flap that guards the interior of the bag. Made from a water-repellent nylon, the bag is carried by a comfortable, adjustable shoulder strap that has a padded cushion. The Unica 5 Messenger Bag offers you a host of features at a reasonable price that should make it an appealing choice when you're in the market for a lightweight, functional and stylish shoulder bag that is manufactured by Manfrotto, a company with a solid track record of producing high-quality photo gear.

Decent Messenger Bag

By

from Mannama, Bahrain  -  Semi-pro Photographer

I bought this bag based on my size requirements and it's relatively good reviews. I was not looking to spend $150+ on a camera bag so this was a good compromise. I plan on traveling with this bag and this was the main reason for the purchase. The bag holds my D7100 and 35mm prime lens with no issues. If I attach my 10-24 or 18-200 I do not feel as comfortable with the way the camera sits in the holder. This bag does not scream camera bag while you're carrying it which is a nice change from all the other bags I've owned b/c it was obvious what I was carrying. The one thing that I really do LOVE about this bag is that it has a zipper on the flap so you do not have to open the flap to get to your gear quickly. The bags clip to shut is a HUGE medal one that makes no sense. It is not ascetically pleasing and feels flimsy overall. This bag is only is lined with half velcro. The side where you sit your camera is the ONLY place with velcro. The other side you can't put any dividers without modifying the bag. This is a MAJOR con for me as I want to carry my other two lens but don't want them banging around. I'm looking into a solution for this, but I'd much rather not have to find a solution for a bag that in my opinion should already have this feature. This is the biggest downfall of this bag for me.

It's big!

By

from SP, Brazil  -  Pro Photographer

I thought it would be a small bag in which I could take my 15" Macbook and my Nikon D3200 with 18-55 and 35mm 1.8 "discretely" but it's huge!! Don't take me wrong, it's a great bag and I'll definitely use it to transport my equipment around but it's definitely NOT discrete!!

caio s  I would like to know if the tripod dedicated pocket would fit a manfrotto befree tripod...does anyone can help ? thank you!!!
ANDREUS B  To be honest I do no believe it would. The bottom compartment would fit a smaller tripod, but not one of that size. I will admit that the bag is incredible, I still use it as my main camera bag and it is very durable, weather proof. You will love this bag. Hope that helps, cheers!
