its a little on the light side but its helpful when you just cant get all the detail in the sky you want without losing the foreground to the shadows.

Adorama's online photo learning partner, the Perfect Picture School of Photography, is are very happy to add Glenn Randall as an instructor. Here he shows how to use graduated ND filters for landscape photography.
Graduated Neutral Density filters compensate for bright light over half the photo.
Unlike half-color filters, graduated filters have no harsh center line and can be undetectable.
By under-exposing a portion of a scene with neutral density (like the sky), the filter gives a better relief to the surfaces and colors of landscapes and architecure.
They are indispensable in summer, for seaside and mountain photos.
