Costly filter that is recommended for this lens has an ultra thin profile supposedly to avoid vignetting when using the lens wide open at 15 MM. Problem using that filter is that the lens cap cannot be attached to it. I bought this one instead so I could use the front lens cap. I have no problem using this UV filter at 15 MM. No vignetting present on my camera with an APS-C censor.

This piece is meant to be primarily for lens protection and by nature is some what disposable. With prices going over $150.00 this was truly a good value.
