Sunpak Compact Mono Pod 2 with 2-Way Head and Strap

I purchased this monopod for its affordability, and for being compact and lightweight. For added stability in my portraits, I was mounting a DSLR Canon Camera with battery grip, 580EX II Flash, and Canon 28-300mm L-series lens to it. While shooting a wedding in June 2012, I attempted to gently set the camera down while it was still attached to the monopod, and the whole head of the monopod release. The angle at which the camera fell to the ground (about 18") caused the lens to snap off my camera body. The camera is wrecked, thankfully the lens survived. I wouldn't mount my cheap point and shoot cameras to this monopod anymore.
