Great product

By

I originally had 3 other cameras setup, 2 of which were of the 640 series. I purchased this camera as an addition. The clarity compared to the 600 series is AWESOME! I will be replacing my others with this model!

Excellent Product; Nothing comes close in same price range

The wide angle fits my need. There is no 'fish bowl' effect that are found in other wide angle cameras on the market in general. I love how Swann.com has posted actual video from several camera models to see side by side. I use it to monitor a home driveway that is two cars wide. It mounted 12 feet above ground on eve of house, and entire driveway width is covered, plus a few feet on each side. I had to play with the camera settings as the face of the person was completely blown out over exposed in near total 100% darkness with the factory default settings, almost ghost like lmage, however, adjusting the settings, found what works. There is a restore to factory default, so its almost impossible to mess up, just play with setting and see how image changes. Worst case, restore and play again. The wire goes through bracket into wall to deter someone from cutting the wire. The BNC connections are nearly half an inch wide, so the hole needed to drill, #bit not included# is about 5/8 inch. The set screws for the camera tilt are very secure, almost impossible to move the camera angle by hand once the set screws are tightened, the camera would break off wall before angle would change. We had the gutters cleaned and the guy bumped the camera with his ladder, and camera angle didn't move a bit when bumped. An allen key is provided to tighten set screws. It comes with wood screws and plastic anchors for drywall. The IR LED's glow a faint red when IR is activated at night. Its good because it lets people know the camera is watching you to see the faint red glow in near total darkness. The glow puts out no visable light, but when its dark, you can see its glowing red. The camera seems to work best in near 100% darkness, its a little over exposed in daylight, but that may be due to the settings played with. It seems to be either perfect in daylight or perfect in night, pick one. I need it for night, so I went with that one. Could I play with setting more, maybe, but its ok at the moment. Overall, highly recommended. Are there better cameras on the market, most likely at 3 or 4 times more money. Is this the best one at this price point, hands down YES. When you compare price to price, this is a clear winner with no competition. Thanks Swann for putting out such a great product.

Excellent Clarity - Love the wide Angle

By

from Scottsdale, AZ

When placed outside in natural light, the camera is amazing. When I hooked it up inside my home to see the quality, the colors were a bit off (blue shirt wasn't blue) still a very high quality image. I have 3 outside of my home, and since I love the quality of picture and the wide angle, I am purchasing two more and having them installed. The night vision is great and very clear. I would recommend this camera to anyone.

GREAT CAMERA

By

from Boynton Beach, FL

The two other reviews that preceed this one are spot-on. I purchased this camera to help secure a 60' wide patio area of sliding glass doors and in-ground pool. Mounted about 10' high, the camera offers an outstanding day or night view without the need to provide additional lighting. Very happy with this purchase, and plan to buy another for the front drive and entry way.

Questions about this item:

Shopper  Do I need a DVR?
Andrew R  You would need a DVR or similar device. This listing is for the camera only.
Shopper  Is it possible to swap the 60ft cable for a 100ft?
Andrew R  Unfortunately we cannot. Additional or longer cabling would need to be purchased separately. Longer cable runs can result in degraded signal and poor/no image.
Shopper  what is the viewing angle of this camera? it says "super wide" what exactly is "super wide"?
STEPHEN L  When it was put up on the front of the house you could see most of the front yard and part of the neighbors yard across the street. The house sits on a typical residential street.
