About Starlight Xpress SXVR-H36

The Starlight Xpress SX-36 USB2.0 Monochrome CCD Camera System is the largest in the SX line of Kodak CCD based imagers. To reduce the negative effects of the greater Kodak dark signal, Starlight Xpress has used a two stage Peltier cooler for an extra 10 degree reduction in the CCD temperature and a new high-speed USB2 interface circuit to greatly reduce the download time. The fast download minimizes the visibility of bias frame artefacts, such as hot columns and the top to bottom gradient that is commonly seen on such chips.

When you choose a Starlight Xpress SX-36, you choose to get a large, high resolution Kodak CCD chip, with 16 megapixels at 7.4 microns. This means you want high sensitivity, with approximately 52% quantum efficiency at peak (green light), 31% at H alpha. The SXVF-H36 offers up a low dark signal - which means dark frames aren't necessary for most of the brighter deep sky objects. By choosing a Starlight Xpress SXVR-H36, you're also choosing to have anti-blooming with minimal effect on linearity and no lost active area.

The Starlight Xpress SX-36 offers built-in super high speed USB 2.0 interface for approximately 7 second downloads, a built-in autoguider interface and output - compatible with the optional dedicated external guide camera, a built-in dual serial ports for accessory control to directly drive filter wheels, GOTO telescopes etc. Your computer knows what that means... it means a single USB cable control for all features ! No more Medusa in the control room... and no un-needed power consumption!
