Im fairly new to filters and what they do, I would like a filter to take pictures of sunsets and what not. Could someone explain to me how the number 52mm correlates with something like a 18mm-55mm lens or a 75mm-300mm lens? Does it fit on these lenses, is there a special filter I need? Thanks c:
The "52mm" relates to the size of the front of the lens and has nothing to do with the focal length. So it works equally well with either of those noted or any others which it will fit on. Digital cameras require a rotatory polarizing filter. A graduated density filter may be useful for landscapes such as sunsets.
