About Tiffen 58 Skylight

Safeguard your lens and absorb UV light. Film and video are more sensitive to UV light than our eyes are. This often shows up as a bluish cast in images, especially shots from high altitudes and long distances, particularly over water. Ultra Violet filters are available in a variety of UV absorption levels.

Great filters

Installs easily, threads on both sides work with other vendor's products. Used as both filtering and protection for lens, they're installed on all our lenses. Better quality than other filters and they're US-made.

Great value for an everyday filter

By

from Plano, TX  -  Photo Enthusiast

I use this filter for everyday photos. Protects lens and adds a very slight warmish tint to photos. Especially good for outdoor shots; eliminates the bluish cast on those shots caused by sky reflections and UV light.

No More Vignetting

By

from Kallifornina  -  Photo Enthusiast

Great for my 28mm equivalent lens. There is no more vignetting at the corners. Big negative: The outside of the lens does not have recess so the lens cap does not fit. In order to store the lens, you must remove the filter so you can put on the lens cap on. It sorta defeats the purpose of using the skylight filter in the first place, that is to constantly protect the lens from damage.
