About Tiffen

These filters absorb Ultra Violet (UV) light. Film is more sensitive to Ultra Violet light than our eyes. This often shows up as a haze or a bluish cast, especially when shot from high altitudes and from long distances, particularly over water.

UV filters also help protect your lens from dust, moisture, fingerprints, scratches and damage from cleaning.

Since they absorb no normal light and have no effect on color or contrast, they can be kept on your lens at all times.

Tiffen Ultra Violet filters are available in a variety of absorbtion levels and sizes.

UV filter ---------- Standard UV. Most popular protection filter.
UV MC -------------- Multi coated for extra flare protection.
UV Warm ------------ Combines UV with Tiffen's '812' warming filter.
Haze 1 ------------- Absorbs 75% of UV light.
Haze 2 --------------Absorbs 100% of UV light.
Haze 15--------------Absorbs 81% of UV light.
Haze 16--------------Absorbs 86.5% of UV light
Haze 17 ------------ Absorbs almost all UV light.
UV Wide Angle Thin - UV filter for use with wide angle lenses.

Tiffen 62mm UV (Ultra Violet) Glass Filt

I bought this filter for my Canon 50mm f/1.8 II Camera Lens. The price was right, and I thought it would be a good way to protect the lens, which this probably does well. Another Winner From Tiffen

By

from Danville, IL  -  Photo Enthusiast

Most photographers use simple UV Filters to protect their lenses. That is probably their most useful function. As such, Tiffen filters do a great job of protecting. Tiffen is a well-known brand for quality at an economical price. This filter delivers, as do all their other filters. 10 year warranty! What's not to love?

Excellent Filter. Only UV protection

By

from Astoria, NY  -  Semi-pro Photographer

This is all I needed. A UV protection that just protect my lens. Pictures are still sharp and contrasty. I'll definitely recommend it.

UV Filter

By

Serves its purpose without distorting. I use it as lens protection only. I am a little disappointed with the fit of the glass to the trim ring -- it is loose and rattles. I bought two of them and both rattle.

Why risk it?

By

from Tyler, TX  -  Photo Enthusiast

I have always used a UV filter on my lenses. It is the opinion of some photographers that it's not necessary and it can degrade your images, but in my mind it's cheap insurance. I don't want to take the chance of scratching my lens or getting it dirty. It's easy to remove and keep clean.

Great option for a cheap lens protector

By

from Cincinnati, OH  -  Casual Photographer

This is about the best option you can go for in terms of a cheap no-frills lens protector. Does not offer much benefit other than that, but exactly why you're buying it. For the price you cannot beat it.

This filter is doing its job so far. I haven't taken it to extremes yet. Price is good compared to what I paid for my last filter.

Questions about this item:

Shopper  Why Did You Choose This?
Mike D  To protect my lens from dust and from possible injury. Works just fine and never comes off
Nancy S  I need a cap for this lens filter ~ can yu help?
MARTIN H  The lens cap that came with my lens still fits with the filter in place. It just locks into the threads in the filter instead of the threads of the lens.
Shopper  Does it come with a case?
BRUCE V  No. But I always keep it on the lens, so I don't need one. It is possible that it came in a case and I just got rid of it, but I don't remember.
