About Tiffen 67 ND Filter

Often, you want to balance light intensity between two areas within a scene. This is important outdoors to allow more sky detail while properly exposing the foreground.

Exposing for the foreground will produce a washed-out, over-exposed sky, exposing for the sky will leave the foreground dark, underexposed. By using the color graduate ND, the ability to balance both areas at once is provided.

Tiffen Digital HT® Filters
Made from the purest optical quality glass and Tiffen's award-winning ColorCore technology, Tiffen Digital HT - High Transmission - filters offer a new breakthrough in multi-coating technology.

Imagine, a double-sided coated filter with the strength of titanium, unmatched scratch-resistant durability and worry-free cleaning.

Other coated filters on the market today cautiously suggest delicate, if any, cleaning procedures, in fear of destroying the coating (and thereby the filter).

Not with the Digital HT filters - the secret is in the titanium coating that makes it extremely durable and protects against damage and mark up.

And that's not all these High Transmission filters feature a low profile titanium finish ring and anti-reflective black lock ring, with a distinctive titanium finish that sets these filters apart from the rest.

Digital HT filters are made in the USA and come with a 10-year warranty, your guarantee of quality assurance.

Digital HT filters are available as the following filters: Digital Ultra Clear, Haze 86 (with 86% UV absorption), Circular Polarizer, 812® Warming Filter, ND .06, ND 1.2, Soft/FX® 3, Star 4 Point 2, and Color-Grad® ND.0.6 in sizes 52mm-82mm.

Disappointed

This filter goes too dark at the top and in the upper corners. If I had to do over again I would get one with a hard horizon line and a slide mount. The filter itself is well-made - I just want more control over the effect than I can get with this style.

Harsh graduation

By

Bought this filter to take on a recent trip to the Grand Canyon. The filter has too harsh of and end point for my purposes. In my opinion this would be much better suited for images with specific horizons that are only in the middle of the frame.

Essential for the travel kit

I use ND grads a lot to balance sky. 67mm fits the Nikkor 24-85mm or 16-85mm and the 70-300mm VR. Booyah. The Tiften HD is quite nice. Even easy to see on the end of the lens with the "Ti" finish.

Essential for the travel kit

I use polarizers a lot to darken the blue in the sky, to take reflections out of water, or just to lose two stops when I need to get closer to flash sync or get water to smooth out and I'm not using a straight ND filter. 67mm fits the Nikkor 24-85mm or 16-85mm and the 70-300mm VR. Booyah. This Hoya is quite nice and good quality.

Great addition

By

from Loxahatchee, Fl  -  Photo Enthusiast

I have ND filters that I use quite a bit, the Graduated filter is a great addition to the group. I live in South Florida and use the ND filter a lot, the graduated filter gives me an added dimension in making the exposure correct. I shoot film, thus I have to get it right the first time. I take the filters with me everywhere I go, they are indespenable.

Average but affordable.

By

from Québec City, QC, Canada  -  Professional

Very affordable, I bought this filter to fill in for a missing and already ordered Hoya equivalent.I agree with DP, the transition from the dark to the clear zone is rather harsh on this filter. The Hoya I recieved [...] is much better, but also more expensive. On the other hand, the filter is very solid and the optics quality is good. The transition is just steeper than usual, which can fit the taste of many users... but not really mine.

Good price, well-made

By

from Granite Bay, CA  -  Hobbyist/Enthusiast

I don't have a lot of experience with grad ND filters, but this one seems to go from no color to full color filter pretty quickly with litle subtlety of gradation.
