About Tiffen

These filters absorb Ultra Violet (UV) light. Film is more sensitive to Ultra Violet light than our eyes. This often shows up as a haze or a bluish cast, especially when shot from high altitudes and from long distances, particularly over water.

UV filters also help protect your lens from dust, moisture, fingerprints, scratches and damage from cleaning.

Since they absorb no normal light and have no effect on color or contrast, they can be kept on your lens at all times.

Tiffen Ultra Violet filters are available in a variety of absorbtion levels and sizes.

UV filter ---------- Standard UV. Most popular protection filter.
UV MC -------------- Multi coated for extra flare protection.
UV Warm ------------ Combines UV with Tiffen's '812' warming filter.
Haze 1 ------------- Absorbs 75% of UV light.
Haze 2 --------------Absorbs 100% of UV light.
Haze 15--------------Absorbs 81% of UV light.
Haze 16--------------Absorbs 86.5% of UV light
Haze 17 ------------ Absorbs almost all UV light.
UV Wide Angle Thin - UV filter for use with wide angle lenses.

Great Filter, Just Forget the Lens Cap

Being accustomed to seeing the barrel effects at times since I’m pushing the lens when I should have changed it (if I could) due to adding extra filter(s), so I wanted a "very thin" filter. This filter does a great job at that and the UV but… Use this filter and you can’t put the lens cap on it. As such, I purchased a second UV filter that can accept the lens cap. When I have a barrel effect problem and I need to illuminate as well as the UV, I use this filter.

Great filter, can't use standard lens ca

It does what it should, protects the lens and filters light - but I can't use my standard Canon or Tamron lens caps with it. Other than that, it's solidly constructed and does what it's supposed to do.

Too thin to mount a filter

from Bristol, VA  -  Semi-pro Photographer

I'm sure it's a dandy filter as far as the glass goes, but don't buy it if you plan to use a Cokin or Singh-Ray type of filter mount as the outward facing bezel has no threading.

I can see right through this filter

from Bristol, VA  -  Semi-pro Photographer

As far as UV filters go, this is the UV filterest. It works so well in honor of this lens I have renamed my cat Tiffen 67. I can't remember what my life was like before I bought this transparent piece of heaven.

Bundled with a lens, it must not sell.

from Sandy, UT

It will not hold the lens cap. Spend your money on a filter that provides total protection.

I wouldn't by this product again

from Merced, Ca  -  Semi-pro Photographer

Filter fit fine, however, it's sooooo thin the lens cover did not fit well. Lost two lens covers. Finally decided to purchase new filter so i'd stop loosing lens covers :-(

A perfect protection to a lense

from Puerto Rico  -  Casual Photographer

You can confidense in Tifften, always.

Does the job

from california  -  Photography Student

Does the job of keeping dust and sand away from expensive lens. Also keeps UV rays out

Nice and simple. It does it's job!

from Abq, New Mexico  -  Tech Savvy

I like the simple design. Protects the lens. It is nice to see no distortion from filter at wide angle. Would recommend 100%

Does what it is made to do.

from Show Low, Az  -  Semi-pro Photographer

I bought this to protect my 18-105 lens and that is what it does. It's like it isn't even there. What more can I say? A cheap way to protect your lens.

Better design needed

from Vancouver, Canada  -  Photo Enthusiast

Seems odd that the Tiffen 65mm UV filter doesn't take and hold a lens cap. So it's not used to protect the front lens.

Lens cap falls off with this filter.

from Seattle, WA  -  Photo Enthusiast

Pentax lens caps do not 'catch' with this filter and fall off easily.
